Lafayette starts with Laf though which could be the long a or short a vowel sound.

I can’t think of an example where an o is prounounced like it’s an e other than aubs pronouncing Jordan, Jerdin.

Riddle me this. Why do Southerners pronounce “window”, as “windaw”. Everywhere else that is a long “o” in the second syllable.

I don’t know anyone that pronounces window like that but the accents vary from state to state.

I’ve heard some southerners say warter instead of water. Also, like someone else mentioned, ‘on’ pronounced ‘own.’

Oh and oil pronounced ul. I also know some folks that would say tars instead of tires.

I used to date a woman from Texas who said “winda”, and I’ve heard the same pronunciation during the hurricane tv coverage in the Carolinas. I also have relatives in Tennessee who say it that way. Not so in Alabama?

Why do Missourians pronounce Missouri with an “ah” at the end? Why do Long Islanders and folks from the Bronx pronounce “idea” with an “eer” sound or “law” as if it has an “r” in it? Have you heard someone from Boston pronounce the word “car?” And why do Yankees think it is “praline” with a long “a?” It is properly pronounced with a short “a.” It a word of French origin. Why is the “a” in Colorado and and the first “a” in Nevada pronounced like the “a” in “cat” by Yankees when the Spanish pronunciation would be with a soft “a,” and how most Southerners actually pronounce those names?

There are regional idiosyncratic pronunciations all over the country.

Some years ago, I was told by an older lady in Boston that my relatively mild Southern accent was “wild.” I got a chuckle out of that because it was nothing compared to her Boston accent.

Out of all the Lafayette’s in the USA, the only that I know of that is pronounced starting with “Laugh” is Lafayette, LA.

Do people in other southern states say it properly or like the rest of the country?

aubs pronouncing Jordan, Jerdin.

It’s only because the coach pronounced his name that way. They only say his name like that. Michael Jordan is pronounced the normal way. It’s like all the people who properly pronounce Orgeron’s name. The R is silent and the G is a soft G the same way it is in “Baton Rouge.”

Oh Ger Ron. Very simple. Many folks choose to ignore the correct way to say it. (If you want to be extra French, you also don’t pronounce fully the last N. A very nasally sound. It’s a little difficult we don’t expect everyone to do that part.)

How creative. Is that how it sounds when you say it with 2 penises in your mouth?

We suck and you needed a last second field goal and a coach who tries to sit on a lead for 2 quarters and may be mildly retarded to beat us. Good for coach O though, he isnt qualified to run the drive thru at Popeye's but he cracked the code to beat Gus

No one was surprised in the outcome. Your coach is a 3-4 loss coach.

If Gus knew how to play with a lead and finish games as well as he knows the Waffle House menu he might be a 1 or 2 loss coach, that's what is infuriating
