The sign was misspelled at the ground breaking. After some discussion, we said "frick it, why not stick with it".

The same reason Lafayette is pronounced “Laugh E Yet” and not “Loff E Yet”

Regional pronunciation. The old coach who it was named after pronounced his name that way so it’s only right the stadium is pronounced the same way.
