Sometimes it is really hard to be a fan of my school with the consistently incompetent leadership we have.
A simple one paragraph press release on Monday expressing sympathy for John L. Smith on the loss of his brother would had blunted the incredible pounding that John L. took from the fans this week and that John L. and the university took from the national media.
His bizarre press conference would have been a bit more understandable and he and the school would not have been the butt of running jokes all week.
Jeff Long is the biggest incompetent tool in the entire country.

Just as easily John L. could have requested this information not be released until today.
It would have been a week long "topic" for him and the team instead of just today/tomorrow/Sunday.

I don't care if he wanted it publicized or not, as an AD you sometimes have to make executive decisions on things like that. John L. and the school have been hammered and laughed at all week because of a press conference John L. gave very shortly after learning that his brother died.

as a human being you usually honor the requests of those who just lost a loved one, but sure blame long. i hear he's causing all the problems in libya as well.

You should not do that.
The school hasn't been "hammered", it has been a mainstay in the sportcenter cycle all week.
