He's a better coach than Todd Grantham

It's just the reverse of what you did

Good Lord. Get ready for third and chavis arky, bc it's coming. You will soon realize what that means and why it is said about him. The only reason chavis was successful at tennessee and lsu is simply because he had superior talent to work with. You see what he did at tamu with less talent to work with on defense...he fricking sucked. That's going to be exactly what happens at arkansas as well.

Did he?

Well, yes he did. He was average there. This defense was always way too soft and they got manhandled. Etling had his 2 best games against texas am and john chavis, that should tell you something about his defense when danny etling passes like crazy on you're defense. We ran at will on them too. They just couldn't stop us regardless of what we did. If you're expecting him to come to arky and make some dominant defense, you're just sEtling yourself up for disappointment. His time at am really exposed him and showed he was only successful because he had defenses with nfl talent all over the field for him to work with. He won't have near the talent he had at lsu.

The head coach sets the tone for physicality more than the DC. Also, he still improved their defense a shite ton. He wasn't helped out by A&M's offense either... they had a bunch of quick three and outs. While LSU's offense usually wasn't that great when Chavis was there, they at least attempted to hold on to the ball.

in all seriousness, chavis is a great hire. he just cant seem to buy a break with a good offense.

Well fair on that point I guess I just can’t believe Chavis keeps getting more shots

I think I'm more inclined to be lenient on the defensive hire since I already know we'll eventually be lighting up the scoreboard under Morris. Knowing we won't be completely inept on the offensive side of the ball negates some of the risk of an admittedly risky hire like Chavis. On the other side of that coin it could be a perfect fit and Arkansas might have just gotten scary. It's enough to keep me optimistic.
