Reporters need something to report. Otherwise....

The SAR and the COI enforcement committee deal with two different things. student athelete restoration (of eligibility) is the SAR, and the COI is the committee on infractions that deals with institutional sanctions. Whether or not there will be any sanctions of the latter variety against AU, MSU, UT or whomever has not been addressed at all and an official investigation won't be until the spring at the earliest if at all. So obviously a letter of inquiry from the COI can't be done as an official investigation has not even been started against AU.
ETA the other thing to keep in mind is that anything the FBI has on any of this won't be released until the McGregor trial is finished in April, at the earliest.

Umm unless im reading something wrong Joe Schad was right. Cecil Newton and Kenny Rogers were guilty or pay for play. If anything this vindicates Schad. Now I think he thought the punishment would be alot worse than it was.

What? The Aubs are saying the investigation has been going on for months and the NCAA has found nothing against AU, and therefore they are letting Cam play.
Now you're saying an official investigation has not even began against AU?

How could they possibly get more info damning Cam, though, considering how much has already come out? The water damaged cell phone, the recorded phone conversations, etc. What else could come out?

At least he isn't as bad as Thayer Evans, with his actions it is very likely he could get sued as his reporting was false and wreckless.
Who's gonna sue him? All they'd be doing is wasting time and money.

what exactly was reckless (wreckless?) about schad's reporting?
Posted on 12/1/10 at 2:17 pm to ReauxlTide222
Yes, cause it took the NCAA only a few short weeks to rule on the whole Reggie Bush thing.

I'd have to go back and read but if memory is correct Schad implied Auburn was in trouble and used Innuendo a lot in this. He strayed from the facts and was just outright an idiot on air a few minutes ago when he said the NCAA wanted to get this done for the Heisman vote, that's not even close to what happened and tells me how accurate and what he knows about this entire situation.
He's implied several times that Heisman voters should be careful and put a lot of emphasis on that trying to hurt Newton and Auburn when there was no proof Auburn had done anything and Newton just through the assumption he knows what his father did. At least he's not as bad as Evans, I've never seen a reporter be so bad as Thayer Evans and still have a job.

basically the NCAA doesn't have shite on Cam right now, just some evidence on Cecil shopping his son along with Rogers to MSU. why the FBI is involved is anyone's guess, but anything they have they won't turn over to the NCAA until they're done with it. perhaps after the mcgregor trial is over in april, if they got something on wiretap from the Colonial and Victoryland investigations but that is just people speculating as to why the fbi is even asking questions about newton.

none of us know what the FBI is finding. itsnot like they post daily updates on twitter. NOBODY knows what they are finding.
Those taped conversations with Milton Mcgregor and Trooper Taylor are gonna be the downfall...ITS JUST A MATTER OF WHEN....

can you give any specific examples of where he was wrong on something?
the investigation is hardly over and many people think that Auburn could end up being in trouble
If he had people telling him stuff like cam said "the money was too good" it's hard to fault him for reporting that either...
JMO but most non-Auburn fans think Cam must have been aware of what his father was doing.
