Which is exactly why the coaches hire him. To protect their interest. So when Auburn fires up the jet in the middle of the night to bring someone in all the sudden to take over, they will not be thrown to the dogs
I have never understood why people cant see that. If I were a coach, he would be my first call

Amazing how he continues to force ADs to sign ridiculous contracts.
He must have an incredible amount of blackmail information.
Either that or he's better at his job than they are - which makes him exceptional.

They gave Gus a 7 year deal in 2017 for sneaking into the SEC CG and getting waxed by UGA. That is on them, no? They CAN say NO.

Well, thats not totally true either and there were issues. Plus, the deal was signed before that game.
It was not a great contract by Auburn for sure but it is about the going rate right now. And it will go up, not down

Meh, A&M has more money than they know what to do with. Sexton through out a number and we wrote a check.

I mean I hate that bastard because we've paid for a solid decade of coaches that weren't even on our sideline. Its an arms race and he's somehow representing every army. Its ironic as hell because he is exploiting the shite out of these university's desire to have the money that comes with successful football programs. Its not the salary's, its the fvcking buyouts that are so absurd, but as you said, the university doesn't have to sign them so do whatever you feel is best for you if you don't want to get in that game.

If you want to hear a good one, look at Florida State
They hired Willie Taggart from Oregon. This is what they ended up paying to have that clown in Tallahassee for 2 years
8 million buyout at Oregon
Paid him 5 million per year for the two years
Then paid him 23 million to leave
Unless my math is fuzzy, thats a total of 41 million for him to coach 2 years at FSU and totally dismantle the program
