We are still talking with Tee Martin, who would come back as position coach+ Co-OC. If we get Tee back home, it's fricking huge. Tee is a damn good position coach and is a cheat code on the recruiting trail.
Pittman would have made this a Grand Slam hire, but I do think keeping Friend isn't the worst thing in the world, he can coach. It's also not out of the realm of possibility that Friend will get offered another OC position next year, and then we make a real run at Pittman, who absolutely loved working at Tennessee and was shunned by that tomato faced hedgehog **** Lyle Jones.
Good luck. Looks like UGA is offering him a title bump to Asst HC and a raise to $1.5 million. Highest paid OL coach in history. He's now a lifer in Athens.
Also, this move makes it plain to see who was valued by UGA between Chaney and the PittBoss.

If I were him I'd love UGA more. He has a chance at titles here and won't be coaching the second best team in the state.
We only let you have coaches that we don't want, like Chaney and Dooley

Pittman isn't going to Tennessee. Friend, the Tennessee Oline coach and Pruitt were roommates in college, I think. Plus Friend is about to land a second 5* OT, and seems to be doing a great job at UT.
I don't know why so many people think they have to crap on a coach that leaves their team. Chaney did a solid job for us as OC, and will do a solid job for Tennessee. It will be a good pickup for UT. I hope we get a solid replacement.

Fwiw none of us really expect anything to happen with Friend since he is BFFs with Pruitt like you said. VOLS #1 position coach target right now should be Tee Martin
