All those gaudy numbers were mostly put up against shitty defenses.

SMU (#57 scoring defense, #64 total defense) - 6 touchdowns and over 400 yards in 2 1/2 quarters

South Carolina State - 300 yards and 5 touchdowns in one half

Ole Miss (#67 scoring defense, #49 total defense) - 320 yards and 2 touchdowns

Auburn (#65 scoring defense, #80 total defense) - 350 yards and 5 touchdowns in 17 minutes

Mississippi State (#28 scoring defense, #58 total defense) - 500+ yards and 2 touchdowns

[b]Alabama (#2 scoring defense, #1 total defense) - 350 yards and 2 touchdowns

Sam Houston (only gave up 18 points per game in FCS) - 350 yards and 5 touchdowns in 19 minutes

Missouri (#66 scoring defense, #59 total defense) - 450 yards and 5 touchdowns

"Shitty defense" = Bottom 40. The only "shitty defense" we faced was Auburn in total defense.

you pretty much proved my point. The only good defense he played well against was Bama. Don't come with a non BCS team statically having a good defense when they play 8 conference games against garbage. Also really Miss. St? We saw what happened to that defense when they stop playing their Sun Belt conference games

There's only 5 "SEC defenses"

Run Defense:

8 SEC defenses (including A&M) in the top 50 - A&M faced 6 of them and a 7th in practice every week

Pass Defense:

8 SEC defenses in the top 50 - A&M faced 5 of them

Scoring Defense:

8 SEC defenses (including A&M) in the top 50 - A&M faced 4 of them, and a 5th in practice every week

Total Defense:

7 SEC defenses in the top 50 - A&M faced 4 of them

Good lord, I'm glad I didn't watch the awards show tonight.
Hey Alabama, can LSU get Sloppy Seconds after you guys wipe the smiles off those Irish faces?

Te'o is who I'd vote for. Sumlin's been padding Manziel's stats for 6-8 weeks now.

not even close to true.

A lot of SEC hate in the media as well. JFF will be punished by some because he plays in the sec.

FOr Heisman contenders it's more about what you do against the elite teams rather than what you do against the average teams.

Well Teo has only played against one team that was semi worth a crap offensiveley in Stanford. Those teams ND played were elite in name recognition only. Just saying...

Alright now go check out how those SEC defenses fair OOC against FBS opponents. I'm willing to bet their defensive PPG, Rushing yards and Passing yard per game are higher than their average.

Examples:

aTm gives up 22.8 ppg. Their 3 biggest point totals against them this season were 57 to La Tech, 28 to Sam Houston, and 29 to Mizzouri.

Florida gators give up 14 PPG which is good for 3rd in the nation. 2 highest point totals against them this season ULL put 20 on em and FSU put 26 on em.

And UGA seriously? Gave up 44, 35, and 24 in consecutive weeks. And that's not counting the 32 Bama put on them.

All im saying is that it's easy to have those defensive ranking when you play in a conference that has little imagination on offense. A prime example is looking at aTm's defensive ranking this year compare to last.

This season they're ranked 28th in total defense. Last season in the BIG 12 they were ranked 80th? Coincidence i think not.

Do you know how many top 10 offenses Notre Dame faced this year?

ZERO

Do you know how many top 40?

3

OU - 12
USC - 31
Miami - 39

he got to play USC without Barkley so that is even less impressive.

and to say he played poorly against Florida is just flat out wrong. It was an average game by his standards. But it wasnt a bad game at all.

Stanford's offense is 59th which is the 4th best offense he faced this year.

What's sad here is that this ND kid isn't even the best defensive player in the CF but because he plays for ND he's getting all the attention for how stupid celebrations on the field. Very similar to Ingram,.overrated as hell!!!

Well ND held the #13 scoring offense in Oklahoma to 13 points in Norman might i add.

Also USC has the 2 best WR's in the nation. ND shut em down.

Woods and Lee had 12 catches for 167 yards (over 14 yards/reception). They sure SHUT THEM DOWN.

USC just lost Barkley. That had WAY more to do with shutting down their WRs that oh by the way Teo wasn't even covering.

are you really going to be this stupid?

Bottom line is he played against 3 good defenses all season and looked lost against 2 of the 3. But he beat the almighty Bama defense so he deserves the award. Nah.

76% completion percentage (23 for 30) = "looked lost"?

More than Te'O's entire career. You still have yet to present a legitimate argument as to why Te'O is the best player in all of college football. All you're doing is attempting to argue why Manziel is not.
