Probably because even with Banks we're beyond paper thin at LB. Our roster was playing with FCS numbers last year (not an exaggeration) and I don't think it was much better this season. We've just been able to mask a lot of things with great QB and WR play.
But our defense was 100 percent carried through last season and this season. We knew it and so did everyone else. There was just nothing we could do about it beyond hitting the recruiting trail which we've done but we still gotta wait on those classes to come in. I mean, we were playing a walkon DB against BAMA for frick's sake. That should tell you how thin that D is.
A guy like Banks was one we wanted to succeed because he'd humbled himself and worked hard and until lately had kept out of trouble and looked like the whole reason you give second chances.
I'm not sure Banks backslides and pulls the shite he supposedly pulled if he and everyone else didn't know that it would hurt us to not play him. But that's the way it is when you don't have depth and why the transfer portal and recruiting trail are so important for us going forward.

I'm not sure you will. Obsessing or even thinking about CBB is weird. Thinking about other team's cbb coach when the story is about their MLB is bizarre. Doing all of this in football season is even weirder. Adding on the fact that it's been nearly a year since Vitello did anything and well, you should be able to figure out how odd that too is.
