SEC refs are obviously there to protect him on both ends of the floor. That one "charge" call he drew when he was still shuffling his feet sideways was the biggest joke call of the day. And the calls were automatic every time he took it to the hoop. Reminds me of the BS protection of Grant Williams when he was at UT.

Starting a thread about an in state kid that plays his arse off, fills the stat sheet and has become an exceptional asset taking chargers is why I hate this basketball fan base above everyone else in the SEC. Dude was helping quinerly up half the game.
Taking chargers doesn’t equal flopping.

I give much respect to players who will take a charge. I don’t like obvious flops but since you can’t put a body on someone driving the lane, the skill to set up for a charge is about the only thing left. I would prefer to go back to being able to body check but too many wussies out there. Herb Jones was great at drawing charge and he was my favorite. I do think refs don’t know how to be consistent but I hate refs anyway. I’m a Bama fan and we played hard today but not very smart. Should have won by 20 but are sloppy ball handlers and not real basketball smart. Not going to bitch if we keep hustle up however. RTR. Keep working.
By the way, Oats may be a smart arse but he is not a whiner. He does expect the game to be called the same on both ends of the court, and he should be.

Great coaches have been teaching how to draw a charge long before it was called flopping. Until we have AI officiating it will be an issue.
