UT announces #Vols forward Jarnell Stokes will be available to meet with the UT media Friday afternoon. Decision coming

Seems like most people expect him to declare for the draft, but UT has never hosted an on campus press conference where the player announced he was declaring for a draft. It's always been done via press release, so that seems to be leading some UT media to think he'll return. Who knows?

Then he should stay and work on his jumper, he's just 20.

Does he have any chance of a round 1 selection if he comes back?

I don't think so. Chad Ford said yesterday he thinks he will play in the league 8-9 years, but will likely always be a early 2nd round guy due to his height. Thinks he should capitalize on his great NCAA Tourney though while it's fresh on everyone's mind.

He improved A LOT from last year to this year though. A consistent jump mid-range jump shot and he is a legit 4.

Probably gone... but he did reclassify and graduate HS early, so he's a young JR.

Well we did host that one press conference. I believe the press corps actually broke into cheers when that QB, forget his name, said he was staying.

Cuonzo probably needs 2 big men grad transfers now.

Could easily see him getting fired next March with this news.

Yeah, obviously there have been a lot of press conferences where the player has announced he's returning including Manning. On the basketball side Stokes did it last year. Tyler Smith did it twice, Lofton did it twice, etc.

I was referring to players announcing they're leaving. Can't remember the last time it happened. But obviously it's going to tomorrow.

Which is why it would be strange if he's going. I realize the national press is saying he's going now but they also said Martin was going.

Wonder if y'all will go after Horford?

Possibly. Don't know if he's a better option than Turman/Cofer/Davis though. We definitely need at least one grad transfer though. Rhett would have fit perfectly with Stokes, we could still use him I guess but we really need a center.

So what will UT's roster look like next season?

PG: Thompson, Austin
SG: Hubbs
SF: Richardson, Moore, Cornish
PF: Cofer, Reese, Davis
C: Turman, Ndiaye

PG situation is shaky and that frontcourt is awful. Good wings, but I can't see that roster winning any more than ~15 games.

The roster isn't going to be great but I doubt the season is as awful as everyone expects. More meh.

We will add at least one big man grad transfer from what's being said tonight.

I think you see either

Thompson
Hubbs
Richardson
Moore
Davis/Turman/Cofer/Grad Transfer

or

Thompson
Hubbs
Richardson
Davis
Grad transfer/Turman/Cofer

Remember Moore started at the 4 down the stretch last year with no Maymon. Also Cuonzo said after the Michigan game that he thinks Davis might be the best player on the roster next year if he continues to grow, so I think he there's a good chance he starts.

I think they win 18-20 and head to the NIT. The situation at the 5 is very concerning but I don't think the other 4 positions are that bad especially relative to the rest of the league. All Cuonzo guys so it will be very interesting.
