His upside is Hurts or Jackson, but his current reality is not even at an NFL backup level.
Totally agree, but his elite upside at QB is kind of like the upside of drafting a gold medal olympic sprinter at WR. Yes he would be an all time great if he learned to be an above average NFL passer, but the gap from where he is to that is as wide as teaching NFL level football to a sprinter who has never stepped on a grass athletic field.
And what makes this so difficult for him and the Seahawks is elite runner + poor passer = terrible QB and offense. There is no gradual phase in where his legs buy him enough time to learn passing on the job. At bare minimum he has to get to competent passer level in practice before they can put him on the field in live game passing downs.
Hurts got a year at OU under Riley against Big 12 defenses to learn to throw and build confidence. Lamar Jackson won a heisman because he could run and throw. Milroe was downright bad and regressing throughout the 24 season with talent advantages surrounding him that he will never get in the NFL.

But he has done more at Bama than Hurts did.

Forgive me for calling this retarded but it really is.

Probably the first QB that both Bama and LSU are simultaneously happy he is gone

I am willing to bet you were one of those fans complaining about Hurts,
And you would be wrong. Hurts was not as developed as a passer as Tua when they were both at Bama. But from day one, he had the "it factor" that can't be taught or coached. You either have it or you don't. In the end, I just kinda always assumed that Saban knew what he was doing and played whomever he felt gave Bama the best chance to win.
