From BamaOnline. Pretty cool. Love hearing about kids at different schools becoming friendly rivals and texting and calling eachother, cutting through the fans bullshite.

Bentley seems like a solid kid. I think he might end up being the best next level QB out of all of the current talented young ones in the SEC.

quote:

“We really hung out a lot and just talked about everything,” Bentley said at SEC Media Days. “Our experiences as being two young quarterbacks leading a team, the different things we picked up, different things that we learned. That’s what we talked about the most and just hanging out with him has been great.”

“Jalen looked great. He can really throw it,” Bentley said. “All that crap about ‘He can’t throw it,’ that’s untrue. That dude can spin it.”

While there are still areas Hurts needs to work on before the season starts, that respect is one of the reasons Hurts won the starting job last season. He won over the locker room, earning his teammates’ respect, and that’s something he discussed with Bentley.

“He just talked about how you don’t always have to be a vocal leader all the time and really, just the main thing is if you work hard, guys will follow you,” Bentley said. “The guys see you busting your tail every day at practice, they’ll follow you.

“... Trying to tell a senior defensive lineman he’s doing this wrong or he needs to pick it up here, it’s not easy to do. You definitely have to find a way to go about it the right way and you have to gain the respect of other teammates first before you can do that.”

Bama fans get so worked up over Hurts. No one ever said he didn't have a strong arm. He just didn't make decisions fast enough last year. Kiffin turned him into a one read QB last year. That's the criticism on him. Good thing the freaking kid is built like a damn NFL LB.

This was more about the relationship between the kids than the specifics about Hurts game, but I agree. He was a true freshman. We'll see how he progresses this year.

That's not a BUG, it's a FEATURE.

Geez, you guys seem to think that isn't a perfectly valid approach to the game. One that has had a lot of success and won national championships.

If Bama hadn't been using the other system for most of Saban's time there it's possible teams that use one read might have won even more titles.

Frankly I think the ungodly collection of talent Saban accumulated gave the traditional approach more success at winning it all than it deserved by it's own merits.
