You joined the Confederacy in February. We didn't join until June. You had 2 governments. We tried to secede multiple times from the Confederacy. You had a ton of skirmishes between pro-Union and pro-Confederate forces. We had the biggest Civil Uprising against the Confederacy of the entire war and Lincoln considered East, Tennessee the freest place in the entire Union to speak about the abolition of slavery. You're not Deep South but neither is Tennessee or Kentucky. You're not Upper South in geography but in terms of culture you're close enough.

Awesome. Take your SJW professors, declining enrollment due to racial issues, and leave.

Two programs each in Mississipi, Tennessee, and Alabama. Let's not even talk about Kentucky....
6 of 14 programs in some of the poorest least populated states in the nation.
You think West Virginia over Missouri would have solved your revenue issues keeping up with PAC and B1G?

Both sides of this argument have led to the dumbest series of posts since the end of the Civil War.... and you all need to remember it ended before any of you Einstein’s were born...

Tennessee's population as of 2017 is 6.716 million. Missouri's as of 2017 is 6.114.
Care to try again?

Now divide that between Vanderbilt and Tennessee/Knoxville
Its little surprising SEC fans have no idea how these TV contracts work. Actually... it's not surprising.
Enjoy your money.

Yada, yada, yada. shite swastikas, racist students, fascist leftist faculty, plummeting enrollment. No one from Columbia west has a leg to stand on regarding cultural black marks and stupidity.
Also, your administration begged to be in the SEC after the B1G told you to frick off. You're pretty much stuck here.

We were invited to join the Big 10. We declined their junior membership offer.

The SEC passed on several teams in order to access tv markets in Mizzou that have proven to be a big disappointment, putting the conference in a weak position while negotiating with cbs. Right now it appears the Mizzou decision has proven to be one of the worst blunders the SEC has ever made from a financial point of view. Now maybe those guys hammer out a great deal and it proves to be a success, but as of now Mizzou is a drag in tv ratings.

From an Alabama fan?

Missouri had choices. Go with a half partnership in the B1G Ten for the first couple of years to "buy in" or be completely vested in the SEC from day one.
Who sounds like the more desperate entity? The B1G or the SEC....

We have three major tv markets. Knoxville/Chatt, Nashville, and Memphis.

He was pointing out that you have two SEC schools in one state market.

How dumb does the Big Ten feel now?
They sprung for Rutgers to give that NYC market money and after their one BTN payout will probably never see a real return due to cord cutting.
Honestly, I like Mizzou in the SEC but I grew up a Big Ten guy and still follow the conference closely and IMO not picking up Mizzou or going all out for ND was fricking stupid. Maryland was added to placate PSU but Rutgers was insane. Doesn't fit the conference at all on any level outside of academics.
