good bait in the original thread title. by today's standards they should have won in 64... but they didn't because the bowl games weren't considered then

so you line up arky's desire for more respect (esp maybe from a bama team they can't beat) against bama fans who are probably justifiably bashed for claiming more NCs than they really have

all the necessary elements for a long thread in the offseason

I'm pretty sure you just used a generalization, considering nobody has ever said Arkansas is THE premier program in the SEC, but if you believe Arkansas isn't a strong SEC program, you're guilty of the very thing you're crusading against. LSU was tied with Arkansas for 40 years in football titles and you win two in the BCS era and all of a sudden, you're a premier program? Football fans have very short memories and the fact is, LSU has been quite good this decade. You had nearly 2 decades where the reverse was true.

Also, nobody has said Arkansas basketball program is on Duke's level, but keep in mind until Kansas won its 3rd basketball title this decade, they had been stuck on 2 for nearly 20 years. If Arkansas wins another title with Anderson (quite a good chance to happen), we will be tied with Kansas and will enjoy similar recruiting pipelines. How many NCAA titles would you guess Arizona has won? 2, 3, 4?

Doesn't matter how the nation viewed it, it matters how history views it. History does not agree that only one team was crowned champion in 1964. Every source gives the title to two teams. Alabama and Arkansas.
