I wouldn't be surprised if they play some competitive games. But those 4 road games aren't in their favor.

I'd say 3 of the 4 won't be. They should be favored against Vandy in Nashville.

I'm predicting 7-5. Our defense will be better due to overall depth, but we're still a year away on this side of the ball from being where we need to be.

Offensively, there's tons of speed and our O-Line is the best it's been in years. A lot depends on Towles, and frankly, we're going to have to win a number of games in shootouts to compensate for our defense.

The stadium upgrades will echo the improved product on the field and help increase the general excitement for the program. I'm chocking up L's to Mizzou, Auburn, and UT, but our stadium will be electric for those games and should hopefully go down to the wire.

Sept. 5 UL Lafayette W
Sept. 12 at South Carolina W
Sept. 19 Florida W
Sept. 26 Missouri L
Oct. 3 EKU W
Oct. 10 Open Date
Oct. 15 (Thu.) Auburn L
Oct. 24 at Mississippi State L
Oct. 31 Tennessee L
Nov. 7 at Georgia L
Nov. 14 at Vanderbilt W
Nov. 21 Charlotte W
Nov. 28 Louisville W

Team seems to have a lot of confidence. I'm getting more and more excited for the season to start.

I've learned not to mention UK on the rant as a topic for the short term. Every other teams fans are just going to belittle the Cats until they see differently on the field

I wasn't laughing at UK. I was laughing that stadium upgrades would be included as a reason for your success.

Would you rather he say "Eh, we might get a bowl game"? The point should be to compete well enough to get a shot at Atlanta.

Finebaum asked Towles where he thought the season was going, after saying that getting to a bowl game was the goal.

Towles said:

"I think we can get to Atlanta... I have no doubt in my mind that we have the talent to get to Atlanta."

The guy has confidence in himself, his team and his coaches. But he didn't "predict" that UK is going to Atlanta.

Considering he plays for kentucky, I think the standard blah blah speak of "we're workign hard and are going to do our very best to win every game. We're confident and we're excited to see what we can do"

Sure it's boring and doens't really say anything, but I mean c'mon. a kentucky player shouldn't really be talking about getting to atlanta.

Man I really want Kentucky to do well. I have no idea how we beat them so badly last season.

So he shouldnt have faith in him and his teammates because he goes to Kentucky? I don't see what the problem with him saying it is. It's way better than "well ummmm, we play for UK so I think we can get 5 wins".

Meh. I'd rather have a QB that, whether he plays at UK or not, wants to get to Atlanta. In context it was a pretty reasonable response. They'll never get past topping out at the Music City Bowl if they don't at least adopt the attitude that it could happen.

WANTS is a different story altogether. I woudl hope the worst team in division 1 still has the want to go undefeated. I have no doubt they all want to get to atlanta.

they should have that attitude, I'm sure the coaches are hammering it into them every day. You don't necessarily have to advertise that in the media though.

I think UK is going to be pretty good this year. I think they will definitely ruin someone's year, and end up with 6 or 7 wins.

Sept. 19 Florida
Sept. 26 Missouri
Oct. 3 EKU W

Oct. 24 at Mississippi State
Oct. 31 Tennessee
Nov. 7 at Georgia L
Nov. 14 at Vanderbilt W
Nov. 21 Charlotte W
Nov. 28 Louisville

I think the bold games are pretty much set in stone, that would put them at 3-2. Likely beat UL 4-2. I think between UF, USCe, UT, Mizzou, @State, and Louisville they will win 2, maybe 3. Personally I think they will beat UT.

So you dislike his confidence, apparently. Not enough genuflecting at the altar?

He answered truthfully. Nothing wrong with that. He didn't say they were going to Atlanta, he said he thinks they can get there.

sigh. Nothing wrong with beign confident. Hell, why stop at winning the east? Why not say they have the talent for the playoffs? Considering UK football history, I just felt like it'd be better for him to tone it down (TO THE MEDIA, not amongst the team) as far as sayign they can absolutely get to atlanta.

I guess the flip side is that if/when they don't, it's not like people are going to bring that quote up and rub it in his face. Nobody will remember it I'd imagine.
