Is there a racial problem at AU these days?

Serious QB controversy. - CHECK!
Both QBs are of different races - CHECK!
Rumors about practice fights are along racial lines - CHECK!
I'm getting flashbacks from the Watts/Zow era. I'd always thought race could have been an issue during DuBose's magnificent 3-8 season. Freddie Millons wouldn't even get off the bus once until DuBose went in after him.
On day, listening to an Ivey Williams interview on Finebaum, he told me everything I needed to hear. Williams said, "They wouldn't let us play our quarterback." That certainly leads me to think there was a racial split amongst the coaches that could have filtered down to the players.
Maybe I'm way off base. Thoughts?

no, this is what the media and Paul Finebaum would like to think though. There have been many interviews with players and they say they support both QBs.
The fans like Kodi because of the potential.

There was never a peep out of Tuscaloosa about it either.

i liked andrew zow. in '94 vanderbilt destroyed UGA at homecoming. rumors were the A-A players were upset over homecoming court issues and didn't play hard.

The whole state of Alabama is racist

who wouldn't like to have a white player with Mike Vick's athleticism or a black player with Peyton Manning's intelligence

I did also, but he would have these periods of insane inconsistency. Watts would then come in and play respectably for a game or two, but passing was never his strong suit. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Unlike the rest of the South or the country for that matter, where everyone is enlightened and lives together in peace and harmony.

Couldn't the same be said about Parker-Wilson/Star Jackson? Are they just tryin' to keep the brother down? After all, I read after signing day that Jackson is the best qb in the country, and would play from day 1!

quote:No you didn't. Even if you did it was not from a Bama fan. Either way, to think Kodi or Star isn't playing due to racism is dumb. This type of thinking is part of the reason, in my opinion, racism will never go away. Very unfortunate.

That Tyler Watts situation was a strange one. The way his signing was treated, it rivaled Damon Bailey and Ron "Beano" Powlus as it came to saviors for historic programs. I think politics had a lot to do with him playing time, unfortunately. I lived in Montgomery during his recruitment and early seasons, and without having seen the kid play, thought Bama had gotten Willie Joe, Snake, and Barker all rolled into one player based on talk radio, etc.
Sad to think that the underlying race card MIGHT have had any bearing on it.

With the way Bama's playing, I don't think anyone really thinks there are morale problems on the team.

Thanks! That was my point. Anyone who wants to can make a lame comparison on any team. It's sad that people are so quick to throw out a race card when none exists. It's not like Tuberville hasn't played Black qbs in the past.

Carson Palmer was rated the #1 QB recruit signed that year. T Watts was #2.

You miss the point. It's not about whether Tubs is racist. He's not in my book.

I agree totally. I'm just wondering if some in AU's program have this mentality.

I don't think it's a race problem, I think that Chris Todd has pictures of Tony Franklin in compromising positions with goats.
