Here is a serious answer. Probably the same reason most do. Easy to maintain, cheap once installed, drainage, looks good on TV.

But, OM's field does suck, guys were slipping all over the place.
I am not at all blaming our loss on the field, I'm just saying that OM's turf sucks
Kinda sounds like that's exactly what you're claiming.

Shouldnt be any reason to not be able to grow grass
Okay so maybe we can grow the greenest, tallest, most fertile fricking grass this side of the Mississippi but just have a preference for field turf. Who cares?
And do you have any stats on turf injuries versus grass injuries or is this just pure gump speculation? Here, let me help you out...

A 2010 study looking at collegiate football injuries showed that FieldTurf may actually be safer than natural grass for injuries in general.

Because it's their field and they can use whatever they want. Is there scientific data that proves more injuries occur on turf or this is just your personal belief?

no where in my post did I claim that OM does this for an advantage or to hurt players. Do you know how to read?

Why would I be angry that some dumbass gump thinks anyone at OM would ever give a shite what turf they think we should or shouldn't use? Plus, how can I be angry after that win? You silly little sidewalker you...

Fixed it for you.

I know they love taking credit for gifts from the refs, but I'm just such a stickler for accuracy.

Just do it. Let the melt flow. Be a Bama man and blame it on the turf. It will be OK. You know you want to. No one will think less of you on tRant. Gump meltdown is expected and welcome.

I doubt there's a significant link between turf and leg injuries. If anything, you don't have inconsistencies and divots in the surface that could cause problems. Cleats can get caught it it though.

College football players suffer knee injuries about 40 percent more often when playing on an artificial surface compared to when they're playing on grass, according to a new study.

I always hated playing on sports turf because it made my knees and ankles sore and was really hot.
Sounds to me like a recipe for injury

I would guess most college players are used to it though. Most major programs have a turf practice field of some kind.
Like I said though, they are usually only used in inclement weather or to prepare for high noise situations so they are used regularly enough to train muscle memory.

The painted turf also makes it easier for a referee to see clearly that a player gets their foot inbounds...... shite, the back judge must have had a bad angle on this one.
