Changes brought on by conference expansion affects every team equally. The SEC has been tougher than the SEC East for 17 years. Not having to recruit and play against a Bama team led by Saban and and not having Florida as a permanent cross-division rival helps LSU a lot.

So the consensus seems to be that it doesn’t matter whether LSU wins the SEC as long as Alabama is down. Is that a fair assessment?
