Aggies would rather beat Texas and lose the first round of the playoffs than lose and win the ship

Correct, especially when it’s possible to get to Atl without playing an SEC team with a better record than 8-4…

Not quite as embarrassing as the other team in the SEC championship having their asses handed to them by a sub .500 ACC team

We did not play UTrans for over 10 years and I never missed a wink of sleep over it .

Sorry for the butt hurt A&M is causing you. Sorry you are jealous that A&M is having the season you thought the donghorns were going to be having

I’m honestly happy for my Aggie friends. No hate here. Sounds like you need a hug.

Nope…it’s not playing an extra game as aTm would get a bye in the playoffs and a potential SEC Championship is a bigger prize incentive than a first round playoff game…

The championship game needs to go bye bye. Since the playoffs expanded to 12 it is now a liability for both teams involved.

Sorry we beat you in your own house last year after your AD insisted our first meeting in 11 seasons should be at Pyle..in spite of the fact thats where our last victory took place.

Sorry we didn't come into the SEC and absolutely wilt under an SEC schedule after playing in the little 12 for so long.

Sorry we made the SEC championship game our first try in spite of you guys having 11 seasons to beat us to it.

Sorry we went to the playoffs last year (2 rounds deep) for the second year in a row while your very own aggy has yet to experience such a thing.

Wow, that was very cathartic. See, even Longhorns can have compassion. Lol

A&M needs to get a W against Texas while they can.

I don’t know, can A&M go 2 for 2 in a 14 day window against Texas and Alabama/Georgia? If the answer is no, it doesn’t seem like the best path.

The Championship Game winner might get a 1st round bye out of winning the game so it may or may not be a liability…that’s always been the case. Win your games and you’ll be fine.

I think if A&M loses a close one they would get bumped to the 5 seed.

Might get bumped lower than that. Other than their win over ND, the only other positives on their resume are over unranked LSU and Mizzou.

As they should with no quality wins in Conference play

The CCG only helps if you win it. If you go to the championship game and lose, you'll have to play 5 games post regular season, total of 17 games.
If you don't go or go and wun you'll play a total of 16 games to win it all.

Yes. A home game against a team ranked 9-12 is better than playing Georgia or Alabama in Atlanta (where a loss possibly puts you in the first round of the playoff anyway).

Plus, losing to Texas allows them to rest their players against Texas as well. So, they could take it easy this week, take the sec championship off, then host a mediocre team in the first round rested and ready to go with a hype home crowd. Or, they could try to beat Texas and then Georgia/Alabama back to back.
