Spurrier is a god. In case you hadn't noticed South Carolina has been pretty terrible at football for pretty much ever.
They've had more success in his brief tenure than the rest of their history combined.
Florida was a middle of the SEC pack afterthought for most of their history. Once he rolled into town they've become a national powerhouse, winning tons of SEC and national titles.
You can't win the Kentucky Derby with a donkey. Spurrier is getting everything he can out of SCar.

Coach Miles beat Stoops at OSU twice. I'd hesitate on Bob.
And? Coach Zook beat Richt twice, what's your point?

Are you saying Zook = Miles?
Zook also beat Saban fwiw

I'll quote my edit from above.

For 3 coaches better than Spurrier, if it's Saban, Meyer and ____________...I would have Miles, who is 3-0 against Spurrier, rather than Stoops.

Still can't figure this out. That was the worst Florida team in ages (at least until the 2010 team stunk up everything).

When I think of "God's" I think Tom Osborne, Bear Bryant, General Neyland, in the future Nick Saban. I can't see putting Spurrier near that group.

I wouldn't either. I'd also have Coach Wilkinson in that group. There might be others...this would be a good OP, if a cognizant framework is put forth so the thread doesn't wander all over God's creation.

Bob Stoops
Noway in hell he is even in the top 5. The guy is a joke and plays in a soft conference where the only real competition is Texas.

Overall, Oklahoma is 3–5 in BCS games, but 7–6 in bowl games under Stoops.

That's it....Bud Wilkinson. Couldnt remember his name. Oklahoma dominated during his tenure.

I meant top three in the SEC, which wouldn't have come across to anyone that's not inside my head. My bad.
I think he's top 5-10 in the country. Elite, no doubt.

He's not one of the best right now and the real reason is his lack of QB play since he has been at USC

People are ranking him ahead of Mark Richt and Les Miles, but at least they have SEC Championships.
Spurrier would be swimming in SEC championships if he was in a storied program with boatloads of talent and no real competition instate. Instead he made Florida a top 15ish program in the country and got double digit seasons at a program that's about .500 all time.

I don't think Spurrier's record at South Carolina hurts him. He has taken that program to unprecedented success. But he hasn't taken them to conference or national championships, and if you want to be one of the alltime greats, that is how you are measured.
If he retired today, I would say he was on his way to being a legendary coach when he had the players at Florida, but at this point he is simply among the best in his era, not a historical great.

Before Spurrier got to USCe, they won 8 or more games only 8 times in their entire 100+ year history.

But you see what I mean. A certain criteria that most would agree with, or at least a framework from which to start...as opposed to 'he'z the bestest cuz I say so?...

Damn.
Yeah I'm just going to have to write this list down and save it somewhere as much as it comes up.
Spurrier's 1st at SC:
-1st Eastern division title (2010)
-1st and 2nd win ever in Knoxville (2005) (2011)
-1st time we've won three in a row vs UT (2010-2012)
-1st time we've ever won in UF (2010)
-1st time we had beaten UF since the early part of the 20th Century (2005)
-1st time we've won three in a row vs UGA (2010-2012)
-1st 2 11-win season (2011-2012) BTW - That's 2 out of 3 total 10+ win seasons here.
-1st win over a #1 ranked team (Bama in 2010)
-3 out of our meekly 6 bowl wins (2006, 2011, 2012)
-Players such as Sidney Rice, Kenny Mckinley, Alshon Jeffery, Marcus Lattimore, Melvin Ingram, and soon to be J.Clowney have all hold or have held SC records under his reign
-1st time we've ever had a #1 recruit commit to us (Clowney)
-1 of only 2 coaches to be the winningest coach at 2 SEC schools.
-Longest streak of not having a losing season (2004-Present) *2004 was Holt'z last year* Only 2 other SEC schools have not had at least 1 losing season in that span, LSU and UF.
etc. etc.
