To be honest I thing the attendance for a regional in Oxford and Starkville would be almost identical. Neither one of us are hosting but we have the better resume as of right now,

I think we will lose the series to Florida and win it against Kentucky at home and go deep in the tourney and not win.

If they don't pick a host by attendance and money, then how do they pick a site?

attendance and money are secondary factors. but your attendance and money isnt superior to ole miss's. that's the point.

Bobby,
Regionals are now picked by RPI and resume- they dont just look at attendance anymore.
Secondly, Mississippi surpassed State as the best baseball school in the state in 2008. They even have higher attendance at games.
But Cohen is closing the gap back and about to pull even in the next couple of years. I think both baseball programs will be good moving forward.

It's going to be very hard for State to host. Go back and look at the last 5 NCAA Baseball Tournaments. Regardless of how good the SEC is, we only get 3, and at most 4, tournament host sites. Right now, LSU, So. Carolina, and Florida are almost assured of host sites, with UK very much in the mix to host a site. Outside of those 4, nobody has a reasonable chance at the moment unless they make a lot of noise between now and selection day.
RPI ranking is not nearly as important as fans like to think it is. It is a meaningless ranking that puts more emphasis on what your opponents and their opponents do than what you actually accomplish. LSU had a very solid 28 RPI last year and did not get into the tournament.
Conference record is far more important to the committee than the fans think it is. If you don't end up with one of the top 4 SEC records then you really don't much of a chance to host unless you are close at #5 and then go on and win the SEC Tournament.
And remember, size of stadium and attendance is not nearly as important as we SEC fans make it out to be. LSU fans certainly should remember going out to play UCLA in their tiny stadium only a few years ago.

our rpi was actually 23 last year.

Even more reason to know that RPI ranking is useless and not considered by the committee.

State's RPI Saturday morning was 23 (not too far from Top 16), then State beat Bama, and it worsened to 28. Then State lost to Bama and it worsened more to 38. After going 1-1.
You are on the bubble to just MAKE the NCAA tournament.

I agree that attendance and money are secondary, but state would have more people at a regional than ole miss' stadium could hold fwiw.

If MSU goes 5-1 over the next two weekends, that would put them at 17-13 in conference play. To me that is a host-able record. However, they do need to win at least one if not two games in Hoover to solidify that host spot.

It takes 14 SEC wins to almost 100% guarantee a bid. I think only one 14 win SEC team has been left out of the NCAA Tourney
2011 LSU- 13-17...thats not good enough
