Is Saban anything more than an awesome recruiter?

Let me get good and drunk, then I'll respond.

Nope. Dude sucks at setting up a system to ensure success.

You should sign out as well and never come back

Yep. Like Ed Orgeron and Gene Chizik, all the guy can do is bring in top recruits.

I think this is actually an interesting, broader question about coaching in general. What is it that makes Nick Saban, for example, so successful? Why is he so able to get teams to buy into his system and other coaches are not?
We rip on bad coaches all the time, but the fact is that any head coach in a Division I conference knows a whole hell of a lot about football. What separates the good head coaches from the bad?

Just look at the scores of his team against yours

I think Sabans spring and fall camps have A LOT to do with Alabama's success. The conditioning programs are top notch.

Because of the PROCESS. Nothing else matters and nothing else needs to be said.

I once saw a video of Saban hosting a camp for youth football players, and gosh, he was just so intense

Wasn't Saban a mediocre coach before getting to schools where he found it much easier to recruit.
I just think any average coach could do what he's doing at Bama. A great coach would rarely lose

So Saban is a great coach? You act like we were dominating pre-Saban.

Obvious troll but, after 7 seasons, Saban has a better winning percentage and more national titles than Bryant had after his first 7 seasons with the Tide.

He's a good coach and an elite recruiter.
