How about Ohio State? These programs trip up to inferior teams with all that talent. Bama hasn't lost to an unranked team in over a decade.

Nick is the best at motivation and preparation. Not too bad at X's and O's either...but maybe you're right. Maybe Nick is just good because he's at the most powerful college football program of all time. I mean he sure as hell didn't match this success at lower tier schools in his previous stops.

That is where the argument begins. A hypothetical question is how would Saban be in the PAC12 or the B1G or the ACC? He would probably dominate those conferences too. But would he get the elite talent from the southeast to follow him to regions far away? That’s not a knock on Saban. It’s just a hypothetical question.

Change your handle to "I am stupid".

Saban is just not a great recruiter.
He's a master executive. He has laser sharp focus. He would be successful at a CEO. He's incredibly detail oriented. He has contingency plans for his contingency plans.
He organizes, prepares, plans better than anyone else in the game.
Oh yeah, long before he was a head coach, he was considered a defensive guru.

He improved the program and wanted Drew Brees as his QB. The GM said "no". Coach Saban was far from being in over his head, and if he had stayed Miami would be challenging New England.

You make some good points, but this is nonsense.
There is no way of telling what he would have done in Miami without a top 5 QB.

I think him quiting says it all.

And apparently Sean Payton outcoached him because the Saints wanted Brees in a big way.

I am very familiar with the Drew Brees scenario.

He also knew he would never have superior talent at Michigan State.

And I do think he is the best coach in the country.

He got a quarterback and his entire family to move to Alabama from Hawaii.

Does that answer your question?

Playing in the toughest conference in the country in that span as well. No other team in the country has a team even close. That includes every other team in the Top 10.

If you look at your coach and can honestly say you think he couldn’t do better with your roster you can disparage his coaching ability.

I don’t see another team that wouldn’t “trade up” in an instant given the chance.

, you can use Michigan State as some sort of measuring stick, but Saban wasn't as good a coach at Michigan State or LSU as he is at Alabama. He's gotten better. I'm 99% sure he'd do a better job at Michigan State right now than he did in the mid 1990s, and I'm 100% sure he'd be more consistent at LSU right now than he was in the 2000s.

This 1000%

I believe the Miami Dolphin debacle changed his life.

He realized the college game was for him and made him what he is today.

If he had stayed at LSU, we would have a couple of more Championships, but not the success he’s had at Bama.

Let’s not pretend that Alabama’s O-Line can’t be accused of the same thing against opposing defensive fronts. It cuts both ways

Not to a point where it's a statistical outlier over a 10 year period when you consider EVERY single team in college football.

All this hurry p no huddle, pick play, OL 5 yard downfield but not called nonsense is directly based off Nick Saban's success as a defensive coach. Team have given up trying to beat Saban without hoping they can get a game where no penalties are called on their offense.

No.

The Saban /Miami scenario allowed the Saints to get Drew Brees and win a SuperBowl.

Also allowed the Saints to be a SuperBowl contender for many years.

Life is good.

Gus is an above average coach and Auburn routinely pulls in top 8-15 classes

Someone does not understand the definition of the word debacle.

Look at Miami's record since he left...

Partially yes it does. But he was able to do that because he’s at Alabama. My question is do you think he gets that same type of player if he wasn’t in the premier conference in college football? If he’s coaching at Oregon or Washington or Utah, would he get the kids from Louisiana and Alabama and Georgia and Texas and Florida to play out there? It’s just something that I was thinking about. I think he would hit on most of his targets personally. But I guess maybe he wouldn’t need to go to the southeast as much because he would be geographically closer to California and he would get those 4 and 5 stars.

Recruiting skills are a massive component of the best coach title. Saban is fantastic.

He quit

2 years at Miami

9-7
6-10

If he kept that trend going he would have been fired after 3-4 years.

And how exactly did that hurt him. Saban did what smart people do all the time. He got out of a bad situation and went somewhere else and was successful. 8 losses (soon to be 9) in a row including some of the most humiliating defeats in LSU history has made you incapable of rationally assessing the situation.

I didn’t say it hurt him.

I said he quit.

He was smart and lucky (Bama job opened up) to bounce back from a bad decision.

Bill Bilichik is the GOAT and Saban may very well have been fired if he stayed at Miami.

He very well may have won a Super Bowl if the Dolphins hd picked up Drew Brees. But then you know this and choose to ignore it. Like I said Saban's success has made you and your argument irrational.
