Historically? Yes, because AU/UA didn't play each other for many, many years.
Modern history? No, not even close.
This year? Yes.

Anyone saying there isn't as much hate is clueless. The entire state of Ohio will burn in hell before they ever put on maize and blue. Hell, the governor of Ohio took away the letter "m" during the Michigan-Ohio State game. It goes farther than football too. Basketball, hockey, business, etc.. I'm not denying that we really fricking hate each other down here and people take it to the extreme, but I wouldn't argue that they don't hate each other as much. The difference is we share the state with these delusional obsessed mouth breathers.

True. Should have said have played for or been in position to play for.

Bama and UT play every year
They've played more times than the IB
It is as close a series as the IB
There have been close games even during this streak, see 2009
And UT had a similar streak from the mid-90s to early 2000s
Just an epic fail all around

I think it's the best border rivalry. Intrastate is bama v barn. I think intrastate rivalries are more intense and hate-filled. Do you even Updyke? Oh, and offseason thread, baw.

Not really, just shows there's more trashy delusional rednecks in alabama than up north.

Oh and i disagree with the guy that put uf v fsu higher than the wlocp. That games is always prime time. Uf-fsu is an afterthought nationally when either team sucks.

Historically, yes. Recently, no but I think Harbaugh will bring it back to where it used to be.

I mostly agree with this sentiment, but...

4. Florida vs Florida St.
is a joke. It had a 1 decade run of being probably THE rivalry in cfb, as both teams were both elite. But FSU didn't even play football until 50 years after everyone else and UF wasn't even good until the mid-80s. This rivalry ruled in the 90s but ever sense has largely been a snoozefest.
Same principle as UF/UT of FSU/Miami...outstanding while both teams were good but who really GAS other than the decade of the 90s?

Up there, they play football. In Alabama, we live for football. If that's sad, so be it. We don't have professional teams and big cities yada yada.
OSU and Mich isn't just about football. They hate each other in so many respects and quite literally every sport.

Yup. There is a reason it is called "The Game."
I love my rivalry, but you can't deny Ohio State-Michigan.
Behind that, there are multiple that can make Top 5 cases.
Auburn-Alabama, Oklahoma-Texas, Army-Navy, Mizzou-Kansas, USC-UCLA, Oregon-Oregon St, Ole Miss-MS State, Arizona-AZ State, Notre Dame-USC, UNC-Duke...plenty of others too.
To me though, rivalries aren't made for only one sport. If you have to point to a particular sport for your rivalry, it just doesn't make the cut for me.

Correct
and while most AU and UA fans will act as though it's not just about football, it's just about football.

That's why Duke - UNC is considered probably the greatest rivalry in the country. Because they battle in so many sports.

The biggest rivalry would be Bama - LSU, if LSU would accept the existence of rivals.
To me the hate has to be longer than 10 years. The Bama LSU beef is more about Saban than the university of Alabama
