It is hard to imagine a coach being on the hotseat before he has even coached a game, unless he did something illegal or committed some embarrassing act.
I think a good rule of thumb is to look at their second year to see if the team seems to be improving. If not then you might be looking at some trouble.

No, he’ll get 3 years no matter what.

If Florida can handle never being any better than 2nd in the East, and stomach the arse beatings that Kirby puts on them, he should be safe. Lord knows if Tennessee ever gets their shite figured out though...

Florida is eventually going to lose to Kentucky. Although it is in Gainesville, it could happen week 2 with a new coaching staff working out the kinks early in the season. Then a trip to UT two weeks later that could potentially be a loss if Pruitt has them improved and all of a sudden you've got the new guy starting conference play by losing to two teams the last guy didn't lose to. It could get pretty hot on Mullen if he doesn't win both those games.

Seriously, one of the truly stupidest questions ever posted here.

And we all know Mullen is capable of losing to Kentucky

The Shark created more buzz and it certainly seemed like he was recruiting better, especially early on. Gainesville is a pressure cooker.

Given that the Scott Stricklin came from MSU, he had enough of an idea about Don before hiring him that this will be considered Year Zero if the Gators struggle

Mac initially struggled just as bad. Then he hired JaJuan Sieder and he was doing work for Mac almost completely had it turned around., he was also is the main reason Mullen closed well last signing day. Then Mullen rewarded him with a demotion to TE coach and he bolted. Our recruiting now is the result. Thanks Dan.

How in the world can someone be on a hot seat before they've coached a game?
He's not. But I do think the level of fan excitement about their new hire went from about an 8, down to about a 5.... anything under 5 enters the "disappointment" stage.
His recruiting efforts have been abysmal. Their class has suffered a staggering 9 decommitments. Here's where it currently ranks nationally along with other SEC teams:
1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Texas A&M
7. LSU
14. Tennessee
15. Ole Miss
16. Auburn
17. South Carolina
18. Mississippi State
21. Arkansas
30. Florida
43. Kentucky
52. Vanderbilt
63. Missouri
11th in the league, ahead of only Kentucky, Vandy, and Mizzou is not the place you want to be. Programs with a class currently ranked ahead of Florida: Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa State, etc. That's not good.
It's one thing to fall behind in the rankings due to a slow start.... that's not all that uncommon for a coach's first class.... but it is a problem when the class lacks quality. And THAT is the main problem Florida's class has at the moment.
**Florida only has one current commitment from a Top 200 kid.
Commitments from the Current 247Sports Top 200 Players:
12- Alabama
11- Georgia
11- Texas A&M
7- LSU
6- Auburn
3- Tennessee
3- S. Carolina
3- Ole Miss
2- Mississippi St.
1- Arkansas
1- Florida
Georgia (65%), Alabama (57%), Auburn (46%), Texas A&M (44%), and LSU (37%) all have at least a third of their total commitments ranked in the Top 200 in the country.
... Florida has 1 out of 12 commitments (8%) that rank in the Top 200.
Here's how the classes currently stack up in terms of quality (Avg. ranking points):
94.45- Georgia
92.92- Alabama
91.47- Auburn
90.88- Texas A&M
89.90- LSU
89.44- Tennessee
89.18- S. Carolina
89.01- Florida
So even in terms of quality of current commitments, Florida comes in at a staggering 8th in the league. That is not going to cut it.

Depends how bad it gets. If it becomes an embarassment to the University Mullen and/or Strickland will be gone. I don't see that happening in the least. Franks may be his best option at QB, Nick Saban with Scott Frost as an OC couldn't win with that guy. Trask isn't a serviceable SEC backup, Trask would've been a serviceable back up at CSU maybe. I am close friends with guys that coach in the same region that Emory Jones plays in. It produces a lot of talent and Jones made them look silly but not one of them think he will contribute at UF as a qb. According to those guys he runs the wrong play or lines up behind the guard a lot.

Arkansas has been through 5 coaches in 10 years.
Houston Nutt 1998-2007. Technically, he resigned. Was not fired.
Bobby Petrino - Would likely still be there, knee deep in strange, had he not crashed that bike.
John L. Smith - I guess he counts as HC, but we all know he was never meant to be a permanent solution, and had a very short shelf life. Performance was enough of a reason.
Bret Bielema - We can all agree it was time for him to go.
It appears obvious that all of their coaching changes given the time frame you mentioned were justified. List does not include interims.

That is just fake news spread by people that hate UF and don't want us to get back to kicking everyone's assets. Oh, and by a few NegaGators, a loud but small minority of Gator fans.
The large majority of Gator fans are happy with Mullen and optimistic about the future.

Did UF lose the on campus recruiting director? I'm not sure what the title of the position would be but he dealt with high schools on official visits and all sorts of stuff. From all accounts he was a pleasant guy and from what I've heard the best person to deal with from any school any where. I heard someone else was doing that job now, if so that is a bigger blow than people realize.

That's unlikely but not at all out of the realm of possibility:
@ MSU
Georgia
LSU
@ Florida State
I think the Gators lose all four of these games. Missouri and South Carolina both have to come to Gainesville, but those could easily be losses.
If Florida were to lose all 6, that would leave them one loss away from a losing season. The game at Tennessee could be the difference.
I really don't get the ... weight or something attached to Florida this year.
Look, this is the least talented Florida team since Charlie Pell first came to town. Obviously Georgia has the best collection of stars, but my take is Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, probably Missouri and maybe even Vandy have better athletes than what Florida has on their team this year.
If Florida finishes with a winning record, it will be because Mullen is a crackerjack coach, and he manages to get production out of Franks.
That's a wildcard to me, because Franks can run, and he is big. He makes Tebow look like Drew Brees as a passer, but the athletic ability is there.
Anyway, Florida, lotta recruits in the state. Got it. But Florida isn't going to play anyone with what they could potentially recruit in the years to come, they are playing teams with what they actually have on campus.
And since Mullen is definitely the weakest recruiter out of the Big 3 programs in Florida, and also can't hold a candle to Smart (or even Orgeron), I doubt Florida fans will have much patience with him.
My prediction is 5-7, maybe4-8. And no, I'm not being a contrarian, tell me position-by-position why Florida has better starters than the SEC teams on their schedule, let alone the backups.

Yes Drew Hughes was his name, he was Director of Recruiting operations. He is now at Tennessee with Pruitt. Chuck Cantor has that job now and doesn’t hold his jock.

Probably not the time to make fun of him, he’s whipping Dano’s arse on the trail too, and he also had a 1 game winning streak against us.
