Josh Pastner did ok at Memphis.
Kevin Ollie has done well at UConn.
Cuonzo did far better than Kim taking over for Pearl.
Thad Matta was spectacular in his early years following O'Brien.
That's off the top of my head. I'm sure there's plenty more.

And these guys took over programs going through NCAA investigations? I'm assuming yes.
Was the roster situation at those places as discombobulated as what KA took over? Likely not. But that doesn't mean everything.
I see Memphis, UConn, and Purdue -- all programs with a bit more cushion to handle something. They're better college basketball brands. It's relevant to note.
Not going to sit here and debate on a Saturday.
But it's very unfair to not make serious note of the challenges KA had to deal with when he took this over. That said, I'm also noting that he was an unknown, old white guy without experience at this level and he likely wasn't going to succeed anyway.

He's almost certainly a nice guy. An overall respectable guy.
Yeah, it's too bad we don't pay him to be a nice guy. I hope he gets fired before the season is over and he drives back to the burg in tears knowing he's failed and embarrassed his alma mater as a head coach.

Yes.
Roster situation? UConn's was pretty bad. Tennessee's was ok. Ohio State's wasn't bad.
But you're talking about guys who took over and took their teams to the tournament. Won the tournament in some cases. Went to Sweet 16s. Won conference titles.
We haven't won a road SEC game under Kim. So yes, he sucks even when you take into the looming NCAA investigation that no one knew about and only cost us one scholarship and postseason play in a year we weren't going to the postseason.
Did he face an uphill struggle? Yes. Is the program in worse shape now than when he took over? From a basketball standpoint, absolutely. From an APR standpoint? Absolutely. From a fan support standpoint? Absolutely. So there may be some stability in the program and some intangibles. Everything else is shite and it's on him.

I respect you.
I don't think you're being entirely fair and unemotionally unbiased about this. You care about Mizzou basketball. I don't really. Makes it easier, I think.
I'll side with Matter and Gabe on what they said regarding there being less of a cleanup for the next guy than when KA took over for Haith.
I don't think the program is worse off now and I think there's been an overall negligence from fans in taking into account the uphill challenges KA had -- which doesn't mean the end result of their feelings would be different, but it's clear people are not mixing in relevant truths into the recipe of their thoughts.

He needs time to establish his program. Look at Arkansas, we're giving your last Coach Anderson 10 yrs to get his program truly installed. Already looking sweet too. Only got beat by 26 at UK! Step way back and enjoy the process man.
