So has Ed O. Ed O actually has a better playoff win pct and just as many playoff wins as Deboer. 
Ed O is also a national championship winning coach unlike Mr 4 loss at Alabama.

Yes Ed O has a better playoff win pct and just as many wins as Golding. He also didn’t coach his first game in the playoff. He has to actually get his team there first. Kinda like Kiffin did for Golding.

Brian Kelly and Jim McElwain did that in their first years as HCs in the SEC so the bar isn’t that high

I say this with pure and crystalline honesty…I’m not mad DeBoer is at Alabama and I don’t think anyone is intimidated by him as a coach…let’s see what happens over the next several years but I like where LSU sits…

Kiffin is not an elite coach yet, time will tell if he becomes one but his track record thus far suggests he is James Franklin at best - not terrible, better than average by about the same margin as he from being elite. That said he is probably the best that was available and willing to leave a damn good P4 team to gamble on a better overall program....there aren't many coaches who would even consider it as HC of a P4 team in one of the 2 premier conferences in CFB.
The better question is did they upgrade? Brian Kelly has a far better resume - there is ample evidence to suggest he was almost completely checked out as a HC which is more than enough reason to change direction but on paper over a long career he is far better than Kiffin.
