kansas is trash.

I said when we left that I hope we never play them again, and I feel no differently now. That rivalry had devolved from heated to downright toxic. I hate em so much that I don’t even want to play them.

The only thing I know about the rivalry is that Kansas fans call Mizzou fans the “slavers”

I think that’s hilarious as frick and fully realize the irony of saying it as an Ole Miss fan

So I guess that's the general feeling amongst the fanbases?

Pretty much. We left them in our rearview mirror when we left the Big 12.

Yeah pretty much, they said we were coming home when we joined the SEC.

I'll give you a serious answer.

Why it's not talked about as much on tRant as UT-A&M:
1. This is obviously a football dominated board.
2. A&M has a much larger presence and is much more relevant on this board.
3. LSU loves to troll A&M and brings it up a lot.

Outside of tRant:

There were heated debates for 5+ years about playing each other. They honestly seemed to die down a year or two ago for whatever reason. I guess enough time has passed. K-State has been much better in basketball this decade and that has helped turn KU's attention west. Mizzou has been focused on fitting in with the SEC (something A&M was already able to do naturally) which turned their attention southeast. Couple those things with the state of each universities athletic programs (KU football, Mizzou basketball) and here we are.

With that said, the hatred is still there on both sides. Games don't need to be played for that to maintain for many years to come.

Probably accurate for both sides. There’s so much mutual hatred I think each side prefers to pretend the other no longer exists.

Beaker, I agree 100% with what you said.

and this explains the A&M and UT dynamic as well. I guess it just comes from a different place which leads to a different dynamic in the overall discussion

I think that's fair. I don't think people outside of the rivalry realize how "toxic" it was. I think half of Arrowhead was arrested for throwing punches during the '07 game. The concourse was basically a constant line of police carrying out handcuffed fans. My parents weren't sitting with me, but they had full beers dumped on them from behind multiple times throughout the game

How many kansas fans post here? How many horns?

There is the answer you are looking for. aTm/Texas is a solid rivalry and all but it’s not some hallowed institution that fans of all teams desire to have continue. Texas has dominated the series anyway. Besides, a lot of people hate Texas.

Mizzou should play Kansas and Illinois every year out of conference.

I honestly have no interest in playing them in football. Not every year anyway. Basketball? Sure.

Yeah I don't miss it. When we played I felt like we were wasting time we could be using to start the state on fire.

Now that Mizzou has been in the SEC for over 5 years, the students on both sides who experienced the border wars have graduated. The new classes of students have started to attend Mizzou without that experience of the hatred toward each other. It has become almost irrelevant on campus with only old professors, alumni, and students who have experienced it as a kid that know how big this rivalry once was. Outside of the KC metro, nobody cares about it anymore and students are focused on The SEC!
