ok, he took Dungy's players and won a SB. he inherited a hell of a team.

has he done anything else to deserve this mystical "great coach" moniker?

I think he went out on top and is earning dividends way over what he would if he was still coaching.

He's a pretty good coach, but not the messiah that some Tennessee fans think that he is.

Should have won SB when robbed by "frick" rule.

He resurrected the Raiders when they were a bad team and the Chiefs spanked them on a regular basis. So yes, he is (or atleast was) a good coach.

I'm convinced the UT fans are just trying to troll. No way they can think Gruden is the answer they need.

Is Tony Dungy a good coach? He was not the GM in Tampa. He sucked on defense without Monty Kiffen in Indy. Dungy only managed to win one Superbowl with the greatest qb to ever play the game.

no. I understand that he makes multi million per year but have no proof. i'm cool with him not coaching and having a much less stressful job I just question a team (school) throwing a huge contract at the guy

Would love to finally get another quality coach back in the league. Fear is that his lengthy layoff is not easy to overcome.

Still better than at a minimum 10 current HCs in the league.

Each of these guys are better than most in league right now-
Kelly
Neuheisel
Nutt
Tommy Bowden
Mack Brown

The guy knows more football than this entire board combined so even if he was, I doubt people could accurately call him out on it. His resume looks impressive.

He ain't leaving his cozy job to deal with constant ridicule from Tennessee fans.

Life Champion will get fired, but Gruden will not be his replacement.

Lol VOLS fans would worship him like Bama fans worshipped Saban when he first arrived.

We treat coaches like shite when its clear they are in over their heads
