If a player has an injury

The rule implies there is an injury. If there is a faked injury, there is no injury therefore this rule does not apply.

The problem its like stopping people from faking a neck injury when a car roles into 1 mph. Its not legal to fake the injury. Its fraud. But enforcement is difficult for the same exact reason - it is impossible to tell for sure if someone is injured if they say they are.

If the plaintiff told the judge I faked it - they would go to jail if money had been paid.

If you asked a ref is it ok if I fake an injury I am pretty sure he would say no, but if you are injured this applies.

If you were laying on the ground telling the ref - im faking - Im guessing a delay of game or something would apply.

Yes - if the ref was aware that there was no injury you are just like a player running around all over the field refusing to line up. That would be delay of game surely, then probably kicked out of game.

Its not legal. It simply can't be enforced unless you tell the ref your not injured.

Calm down. It's an interesting topic that I don't think is isolated to vs. A&M in any way.

Yes - I find it interesting too. Its not about A&M its about rules. I think I nailed it. With help from the wording of the rule.

Have you not been paying attention? In the HUNH, a player cannot hobble to the sidelines like you did when you were the bravest little toaster on your peewee team. If a player has a cramp, or is just too tired to play safely, he goes to the ground so he can get off without a penalty. It's legal, despite the most convoluted analogy in the history of everything ever that you posited above.

Well, since you feel certain and all.

How the hell do you not understand this. This applies if a player IS hurt or too tired to play safely.

It doesn't apply otherwise. Is that easy enough for you to understand.

Try answering this question - what do you think the ref would do if you told him Im perfectly fine but Im going to fake an injury?

I can promise you he would say if you are not injured you must play or delay of game. You must lie/fake to come within the protection of the rule - which is based on an injury. Read that a few times if you have to.

If I'm wrong you tell me what the ref would say?

It is actually a very very easy to follow analogy if you can read. I would be willing to bet I am right.

At least Pee Wee players would try and limp off the field.

Again, limping off the field isn't an option against a HUNH. Please tell that this doesn't have to be explained to you.

I would say that these players "faking" an injury aren't faking at all - they need to come off of the field for a play. Since the offensive players can come off the field any time they want, why shouldn't defensive players be given the same ability? It's within the rules to lay down on the field and be subbed out.

Im fine with it when a player is hurt. You are missing the entire point. The thread is about FAKING INJURIES . Nobody has a problem with injured players having time to lay down and take time getting off the field.

With me so far?

The question we are discussing now is whether it is Legal to fake an injury. Just because faking an injury works doesn't mean it is legal.

The only way you could ever know is if you asked the ref - hey can I act like I am injured ? Im ok but I need to stop the clock and buy some time. Can I do that?

The refs answer is also the answer to our little exercise - because whatever the posters think he would say would be the answer because the ref represents the rules of FOOTBALL.

Now - what do you think the ref would say?

I think he would say no, you can't fake an injury. But if you are injured then..................

If you are not injured or are not too tired too lay safely and you are on the playing field you must line up - and play or a flag will come down.

Its an easy way to cheat. Its not Legal.

Hey I am guessing here too - I just think i am on it. If Im wrong Im wrong.

So - I ask the Rant what would the ref say?

I think this topic is going nowhere because there are more rustlers than intellectual debaters. The fact that there is so much ambiguity to an injury being seen through a TV makes it even more of a sucky debate. Fact is, you win by playing and using whatever means possible inside or slightly outside the rules. So if faking is the case, they can't do a damn thing about it until proven otherwise.

I think it would fall under the rules of "unsportsmanlike conduct".
