Is 'champ the type of coach to stay at one school if he is successful?

Yea. I don't see him leaving UF if he is successful there. It's a destination job.

Muschamp is a good coach. I can definitely see him sticking around if he's successful in building a good program at Florida.

Yes and he was a Gators fan when he was a young kid similar to Bob Stoops who was a big Oklahoma fan growing up.

What is lost in Meyer taking the job in Columbus is that Ohio is home as we get older and one of our parents die as his dad did it is human nature to want to be close to our surviving parent

Florida proved under CUM that it's a championship calliber program. If you can succeed there, then there's not really a reason to go anywhere else because it would basically be a lateral move.

You do realize that there are plenty of bandwagon fans in college football, right?

quote:

“I grew up as a kid loving Oklahoma football,” Stoops says. “I loved OU, because like all young kids, you loved winners and they were always competing for the national championship. I remember all those great games with Nebraska and all those Orange Bowl games. I recognized all their players, loved the wishbone.”

quote:

“I couldn’t wait to watch this (OU vs Nebraska) game. I knew all the great players, Greg Pruitt, Elvis Peacock, and I loved watching coach (Barry) Switzer and the way his teams always played great in big games.”

quote:

"I was always kind of an OU fan, their style of play, coach Switzer. And look at all the backs they had," Stoops said. "As a young kid, of course everybody’s watching those flashy guys, how fast they were. Couldn’t wait to watch the game."

quote:

Bob Stoops has talked about, as a teenager in Youngstown, Ohio, painting his shoes silver to mimic Joe Washington. Oklahoman sports editor Mike Sherman grew up in Maryland and says high school football players out there would wear bandanas, in tribute to Thomas Lott.

Stoops grew up in Youngstown Ohio near Pittsburgh.
He went to Iowa not Bama. I honestly doubt Bob about the same age as me saw many Oklahoma games on TV back in the day when we were kids before cable TV.

It seems to me that a person who never saw SOS coach at UF in the 90s would say something like this.

If UGA ever wants him, he's gone.

fwiw, florida really wasn't relevant until the late charlie bell days, right? maybe not championship caliber but they were competitive. why is florida considered a destination school? they only have 3 national titles and no where near the reputation bama, usc, notre dame, etc. have.
