Not possible as long as Saban is at Bama. And not likely with Pittman at Ark and Kiffin at Old Miss. I honestly don’t think LSU will seeing Atlanta with Kelly

Yeah, but that's because you're dumb.

LSU will get to Atlanta in the next 3-4 seasons.

It can be done and he’s getting older, but yeah very difficult

ND hasn’t won a bowl game in a very very long time. Every time they took on a real team they lost. And Kelly was the HC.

Do you remember what Notre Dame was before he got there? Or are you not old enough? Serious question.

That’s fair. I honestly think he’ll do well as long as he keeps good defensive minds on the staff.

Yeah, Notre Dame fans have a lot of illegitimate gripes about him, but recruiting and playcalling might actually have wheels. He's done well at LSU so far, but he has excellent recruiters. He's obviously comfortable with Denbrock, and Denbrock did well with Cincinatti, so we'll see.

He'll be successful as long as he vets his assistants well, trusts them to do their job, and the LSU admin gives him enough money to keep a great staff. We could lose House after a couple years if he does well. Polian too. How he replaces those guys will be important.

Losing a fair bit off this years team for 2023, not reasonable to expect that year 2. But if this class holds and they put together another top 5 class next year, we’ll be ready to roll in 2024.

Yeah, you might be right, but the 2023 class is going to be wild. I think we're in the mid-70's now for scholarship players, and depending on early draft entries, our roster could allow us to sign 35 players. So would we get 35 freshmen, or save about 10 spots for transfers that can plug in and start at key positions immediately.

Transfer portal can quicken a rebuild if you're aggressive enough. Look at what Alabama did this past class.

Recruiting at Notre Dame and recruiting at LSU are two totally different things, which you’re already seeing.

Play calling we’ll obviously have to see, it’s a different type of roster he’s working with here so have to give him a chance to see what he does with a Kayahon Boutte on one side with Jack Bech and Malik Neighbors on the other side and in the slot respectively.

I do agree, but ND’s ‘23 class is top ten at the moment. Was top 5 until Keely decommited

Oh, definitely. If they try to flirt too much with 12 personnel this season, that's a red flag. They've got to respect what's currently on the roster, even if they're not happy with it.

Hell, they'd probably be better off with 10 personnel for a regular formation.

Yeah, well, the guy we just fired was a perfect 'fit'. I'm glad we got out of our comfort zone this time.

Yeah. Freeman's off to a hell of a start.

LSU still has a built-in advantage with recruiting skill players, specifically elite talents at CB and WR.

They’re going to run 11 most of the time, thought you’re going to see some 12 in the red zone. I don’t necessarily have a problem with it, need to see how it’s utilized. Running 2 TE and calling toss lead vs 2 TE RPO with Jayden are totally different things.

And with all that UGA talent, Smart and the heavily favored Bulldogs managed a 1 point victory against them in 2019.

Go back and look. I said Jimbo would never have a losing record to Orgeron. And guess what? I’m right. Like always.

They won by 6, not 1.

Georgia had plenty of close wins that year:
7 over Florida
6 over TAMU
8 over Baylor

~5 spots in recruiting, especially over that time period, is nothing to sniff at.

That’s basically the difference between LSU and Bama.

Not sure why I got all those down votes, the comment I responded to said the Kelly "never had remotely close to sec talent" at ND, and I highlighted that yes he did, he recruited better than 9 of 14 current SEC teams over the course of his time at ND. His talent levels at ND were on par with teams like Auburn and Florida, who most definitely have been able to compete in the SEC in that time period. I didn't say the talent levels at ND were identical to LSU. Some fragile fans out there.
