So tell me why Hog fans can't make up their minds on Gus. Is he the man you all want or not?

I ask only this. Is Arkansas truly his dream job that he would go backwards in opportunity? He has always seemed to move upward. Why do you all feel he would take 10 steps back to accept the Arky job? It doesn't seem logical, but I guess love for home can always trump a better job.

Of course he is WAY over his head. That would be if your talking about Women. If your talking about coaching, no he isn't.

we have bert atm. full steam ahead with what we have.

if he doesn't work out for whatever reason. I don't have a problem taking on Gus and letting him step up to a non little brother program. but that's just me. some of our fan base would be up in arms if we were to ever hire Gus. for that I am hesitant to hire Gus just because of a possible division it would create in the fan base

Nobody's changed their mind. Half of us like him and half don't. It's not hard to figure out.

You mean why would he take a pay raise? Gee, I dunno, maybe because that's the point of climbing the coaching ladder.

It may or may not be, but I will ask the question as many times as I please and you will like it.

Ignoring the not so subtle dig in the rest of your post- no, at least for me, Gus is not the coach I want. If he wasn't coaching your team (or any sec team) yet had a good career I may would have wanted him in say 10 years but now no and probably never.

He can't handle the SEC. HE bitched about Meyers when he came in, and wanted to teach him how they do thing ins the BIG10. Now he wants everyone to play that way in the SEC and it ain't gonna happen

He is playing hide the ball to distract fomr the fact that he is worse than John L Smith

That is way different than climbing the money ladder. I can understand going for money only, but it definitely would be towards lower end of the coaching ladder compared to Auburn.

Thank you for the answer and it wasn't meant as a subtle dig, just real talk.

Job A pays 3.2 million per year.

Job B pays 2.3 million per year.

Call me crazy but I'm gonna say Job A is better.

Job A = Mediocre recruiting and perennial middle of the pack with no championships.

Job B = Great recruiting and opportunities to win championships.

Call me crazy but I'm gonna say Job B is much better and Money will follow

Way too early to tell. In terms of ability and coaching style, there's no reason to believe he is. The main question is what coach wouldn't be in a bit over his head in the current SEC-W? Petrino had some nice success, but you always got the sense he was living on borrowed time, with some good quarterbacks and excellent receivers managing to cover for the fact that Arkansas was thin, and getting thinner, in other areas. I'm not sure Arkansas would have been able to tear away enough talent to stay competitive even if Petrino hadn't dumb-dong-ditched his motorcycle and his special lady friend, not with Alabama and LSU getting stronger, TAMU joining, and Ole Miss and Auburn experiencing a resurgence (a better coach and more talent for Ole Miss and a coach that wasn't a complete retard to go with the already-strong talent for Auburn.)

Short answer...who knows? Even Saban or Carroll would struggle a bit at Arkansas right now.

Logical fallacy; You're assuming Arky would pay Gus 3.2 per year, or 2.3 for the matter. You're also assuming Gus accepts the job. In hindsight, I'm sure Arky would pony up though after witnessing the abysmal waste of money Bert is turning out to be.

So, say Bielema gets fired in 2 or so years. Who will be at the top of your wish list hog fans? Art Briles? Paul Petrino?

Maybe you have missed it, but apparently it will be Gus...

He will want money over success on the field.

All speculation, but their salaries are facts. And Arkansas is the better job if you enjoy money.
