Birmingham is Paris compared to Baton Rouge.

So many of your top restaurants closed during Covid and what got replaced (the Superior Grill on 280 still hasn't been replaced, Brookwood Mall is being converted to an Andrews Sports Medicine center, and Highlands Grill STILL hasn't reopened) doesn't hold a candle to the great Louisiana seafood Baton Rouge offers nor the TWO Superior Grills in town, also there's Mason's Grill for brunch, Bistro Byronz, Ruffino's, Gino's, Digiulio Brothers, Ruth's Chris (which is better than Bham's), Sullivan's, Mansur's, Ichiban, Albasha, Sushiyama, Serop's, Tsunami, French Market Bistro, Juban's, Hunan's, Chimes, AND MAISON LACOUR

suck it!

yes thanks to Sasha who in one moment - transformed BR into a world class destination city -

quote:

A dancer who goes by the name Sasha took the spotlight Monday night outside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, performing on a balcony railing during LSU’s annual Welcome Week block party. The crowd of students erupted as she danced, bringing energy and excitement to the event.

“So that is my thing. I like to get on objects and twerk and split on them. Yes, that is my thing,” Sasha said.

The performance was unplanned. Sasha, who is not an LSU student, said she and her team decided to show up after hearing about the event to energize the crowd.

“It wasn’t to turn it into a p-valley. It was just to show that I’m confident in everything that I do, and that is by doing my thing and dancing is my thing,” she explained.

My dad's side of the family are all from the Baton Rouge/Slidell area and I've always liked BR but, as someone who's been to every SEC city at one time or another, my favorite has to be Athens. Beautiful city. Also love Knoxville.

My vote would be Knoxville. And I've been to most of the cities in the SEC. Nashville is too big, as is Austin. Knoxville is a place I would live if necessary.

I had a chance to relocate/transfer to Knoxville about 5 years ago through work and turned it down. Last few summers here have made me regret that decision.
I don't know if it's a side effect of aging but these summers here are beating the shite out of me lately.

Those Summers are exactly why I live in Colorado and do not even entertain the thought of going back to Texas when friends ask. Here even if it is unseasonably hot during the day, the nights are always cooler in the mountains.

There is no relief from the heat in Texas.

While you’re right about Texas weather, Colorado is just as bad. It’s just the opposite of Texas.

Colorado has bitter cold in the winter, bomb cyclones that dump ungodly amounts of snow all at once, summer is super short and the sun sets at 5pm certain times a year.

That picture of downtown BR is from the 90s. You can even see a Bank One logo on one of the tall buildings.

Bitter cold? Only if the wind is blowing a ton because it isn't all that humid here. I usually don't even wear a coat to snow blow my driveway, especially after it snows in the Spring. Now, Chicago or Minnesota? THAT is bitter cold

It is a nice 52 degrees today ...

We lived in Knoxville for 8 years during the Manning era. It's changed a lot since those days. Market Square is full of great eateries, although Tomato Head was there in my time. Places like The Kennedy on Gay Street are really nice. Bearden is nicer.

We loved the XC meets and KYS little league games on Cherokee Blvd. Beautiful area.

The strip has lost its charm and character and feels much too corporate these days.

0 degrees isn’t bitter? -20 degree wind chill?

And driving in the snow while the sky is blue is like staring at the sun. Everything is reflecting the sunlight.

You can have that hassle.

Different strokes for different folks. I like snow season because I don't have to worry about the forest around me going up like a match. And it is rarely zero degrees here. We've had an unseasonably warm winter. Only really snowed half a dozen times ...
