Refresh my memory. Who won a sugar bowl and national championship against the buckeyes that season?

I noticed you didn't answer the question but I don' blame you. Please post your formula about being the "better" team since you don't like to use head-to-head match ups results. It's all about matchups and until the NCAA crates a playoff system to determine who the best team is there will always be arguments.
Had there been a playoff this year Alabama might have won it all because they looked the best, by far, of any team I saw play. LSU looked good beating the Aggies last night but they should have, don’t you think? After all the Aggies did have 3 regular season losses this year including 2 in the weak Big 12

It's kind of a childish question to begin with...
Makes me think of the (modified) line: "Oh yeah? Go home and tell your Mom you just got your (LSU)arse kicked by a 'poser' (Arkansas)!"
At War Memorial this year, there was a lone LSU fan directly across the aisle from me. He was a pretty cool dude really even though he was a little distressed with the way the game was going. He certainly didn't think the Hogs were posers.
So, I still think there are SOME sensible LSU fans out there. Not sure about the OP, though.

at least, definitely not the Ohio State team that should have been playing.
Ahh, yes. They couldn't beat our starting team, but that's ok because 5 players obviously should have been suspended.
Arky>tOSU.

If Arky comes into Baton Rouge and keeps us from the SECCG, you may well be right.
Until then, a lot of my fellow Tigahs are making fools of themselves by claiming superiority over a team that has beaten us 3 out of the last 4 times we've played.
We're supposed to just ignore Arkansas and claim beating you means nothing to us -- which to an old fart like me is true. I get far more fired up over beating Ole Miss, Bama and Auburn and far more pissed when we lose to those teams.
But yeah, Arkansas could emerge as a real rival this decade. Maybe y'all can get Miles to mispronounce your name more often.

I don't have a problem with head-to-head matchups, it's the only good way to rank teams in each conference. You probably disagree, but out of ten games, I still think LSU beats Bama 5 or 6 times. I have a problem with someone saying one game always determines who the better team is.

Yeah, and Bama beat an overrated Michigan St. from the weak Big 10, so they should've looked good, right? Don't be stupid, both teams had quality wins.
Yeah, Arkansas has beaten LSU 3 out of the last 4 years. Congratulations, do you feel your team has made the most of it?

Absolutely. Most teams saying otherwise are usually clinging to anything to make them feel better. Most teams can beat anybody if they only had to get up for one game. Line them up 10 times in a row, and then you would know the better team.
The problem with you guys is you think you are the only team we have to get fired up for. Remember, we play in the same damned conference as you guys. You aren't explicitly saying it, but enough of your fans are convinced that you are our Super Bowl that it is obvious you meant it. Well, guess what...you aren't. The team we were most fired up against this year was Alabama...by far.
When a team is super fired up and beats a team that is above their pay grade, you usually see a repeating pattern in the game. Generally, the lower team comes out FIRED UP and gets out to an early lead, after the half the better team comes out and starts to take control. This combined with our lack of a running game at the time is why we lost to Bama. We jumped out to an early lead and were unable to hold on to it. I believe the same thing applies in the Sugar Bowl, although less so (I think our nerves contributed substantially there). Our game against you guys was a nail biter the whole way until the brutal drive we pushed down your throats in the fourth quarter. That is a very different type of game.
BTW, do you guys think you are better than Bama? You beat them but it was obvious to most of us that they were looking forward to Auburn and they were your Super Bowl.

I don't care much for these types of threads. Arkansas is an SEC member and they try their best to be competitive in the SEC. A better questions is where are they in raising their level of competition in the SEC. I see they have 2 major problems.
1) They have to rise to the next level and that will not be easy. How and the heck do they win the West???
2) Arky always plays a very sloppy game when all eyes are on them. Somehow they have to figure out how to over come this.

I would definitely take that bet. When completely healthy and later in the year, I thought Bama was the best team in the SEC including Auburn.

I find the implicit assertion that any other SEC team wouldn't have let the conference down and would have beaten Ohio State to be laughable.

If it was easy every team would do it.

By winning the most games.

Always? I remember a lot of games where the Hogs played well and you have to realize that the Hogs are still not where they need to be in overall talent level and a lot of times the "sloppiness" is cause by the other team simply by having much more talent. But, that is changing.
Believe what you want about Hog recruiting but the Hog recruiting classes have gotten better with each year and this year will be the best class ever. The Hogs have done okay with much lesser talent and I fully expect next year's team to be better than this year's team but that doesn't necessarily translate to more wins. The days of peaks and valleys are over with as long as Petrino is at Arkansas because of the depth he has developed in just three short years.

SEC West 3-1 bowl games this year and SEC 7-1 in last 8 Cotton Bowls. Ark only SEC west team to lose their bowl game and only SEC team to lose in Cotton Bowl in SEC's last 8 trips

They made it to the Sugar Bowl. I'd say they already made it to the next level.

We might end up being their rival but I just don't think they will ever be our rival. I think Texas A&M comes close to being their rival than we do.
