1995 Nebraska and 2011 Bama was better than 2001 Miami.

I disagree about 95 Nebraska but I understand the argument. No way Alabama was better.

01 Miami is inflated because of all the eventual NFL talent. They struggled to beat BC and a Vick-less VT.

Alabama is not a dynasty it is "The" dynasty of all time. No other school has accomplished what Alabama has done.

I love these arguments. As meaningless as all-star games. Who really gives a crap? Oh, carry on.

You left out a period. You meant to say, "No way. Alabama was better."

It's worth noting that 95 Nebraska put 50 on the #2 defense in the country that year (Kansas St with Snyder and Bob Stoops).

You heard/saw what I wrote. 2011 Bama was better than 2001 Miami. Played better teams, gave up less points with one more game played, in the 12 wins vs Miami's 12 wins, Bama won by double digits in every game. Miami can't say that, against lesser competition.

Where on the field does that Alabama team match up very well with that Miami team? Alabama was maybe a little better defensively and not in the same stratosphere offensively.

Why are you asking me?

Alahunter is right. This isn't just Bama homerism. 2001 Miami is inflated as a team because of all the players who went pro. 2011 Alabama is undervalued because of an overtime loss to an LSU team who was better than the majority of teams who actually won the national title in recent years.

Maybe 2001 Miami was better, but it's not outrageous at all to say that 2011 Bama was better. If you look at LSU fairly, you have to admit that they would have given 01 Miami a FAR closer game (or loss) than anyone they played.

Defense and coaching. That stratospheric offense, as you put it, only managed 18 points against BC.

eta- Bear in mind also, they(Miami) were in the Big East. Not exactly a lot of powerhouses in that conference throughout it's history.

Let's look at the record for teams each played...

for Miami.. 2001
Combined records 77-57 57%

For Bama 2011
Combined records 102-66 61%

Miami played teams that had more losses, and gave up more points, with one less game to have played in.

Alabama won three games in which the opponent had 11 wins or more on the season. While Miami only faced one team with double digit wins.

Miami faced a Big East schedule. Bama faced an SEC schedule, that is in the midst of the greatest run amongst a football conferences in history.

Bama's opponents had a higher winning percentage than Miami's opponents had. And won 25 more games overall than Miami's opponents did.

I didn't say there was no bias involved. I said it wasn't "just" Bama homerism.

He makes a solid case. Refute it if you can.

They also won by an average of 43 pts in every game and then had 17 players taken in the 1st round of the draft. They also beat 4 ranked teams. You can talk crap about their schedule but Florida state, va tech, and Washington all had good teams that year
