3 titles in a 10 year stretch is generally considered a dynasty in college football.

Bama does have 3 titles in the last 10 seasons. But if they don't win another one in the next 2-3 years, their dynasty will probably be viewed as ending in 2020.

But your math is wrong. Bama has won 2 titles in the last 7 seasons (including this one). They've won 1 in the last 6.

I've clarified in the thread already.

1/7 if they don't win next year.

They won't.

They might.

Unlike past seasons, I feel pretty comfortable saying that Bama will be in the playoff (so will UGA. With 12 teams they're both very likely to make the playoff field).

Once they get in, with their talent level they'll be a tough out for any other CFB team. It was easier to say that a team wouldn't win a title when it required 1 or 0 losses to even make the field. Now 2 loss and maybe even 3 loss teams have a shot.

In my own mind, the Patriots stopped being a dynasty after yesterday (2015, 2017, 2019)

Alabama also stopped being a dynasty when they lost to Michigan (2015, 2017, 2020).

While NE might have, Alabama has only missed the playoffs twice sine it started (and were there this year)
Playing for a NC just about every year since 2008 (only missed in 2010, 2013, 2019 and 2022)

Dunno, is 2 of the last 7 and 6 of the last 15?

Seeing this stat just makes me wonder how many nattys Saban would have had he never left LSU. Probably would've won at least 2 between 2005-2007, and with the way he was recruiting it wouldn't surprise me if he'd have 9 or more by this year. He's done really well at Alabama, but I think he would've accomplished even more if he never left LSU.

I heard the same. In committee now; but lots of momentum.

It's a done deal.

Here's a fun one for you. With the exception of 2013 and 2022, since 2008 Alabama was either the national champion or lost to the eventual winner. So, for basically the last 15 or 16 years it's been Alabama or the only team good enough to beat them. If that's not a dynasty, what exactly is?

2008 - Loss to NC winner Florida in the SEC title game
2009 - National Champions
2010 - Loss to Champions Auburn in regular season
2011 - National Champions
2012 - National Champions
2013 - FSU - No game
2014 - Loss in the Semi to Champion Ohio State
2015 - National Champions
2016 - Lost in the title game
2017 - National Champions
2018 - Lost in the title game
2019 - LSU - Loss in regular season
2020 - National Champions
2021 - Loss in title game
2022 - Georgia - No game
2023 - ?
