No, 2019 LSU is the greatest team of all time.

2010 Auburn is not in the Top 20 of that conversation.

I wouldn't think so. LSU hasn't had back to back classes like Auburn's 2008 and 2009 classes. But we will see how that talent pans out.

Auburn Rivals Recruiting Rankings

2007: 8th
2008: 23rd
2009: 19th
2010: 4th
2011: 6th

LSU Rivals Recruiting Rankings:

2016: 5th
2017: 8th
2018: 14th
2019: 3rd
2020: currently 4th

Yeah.. I wasn't really comparing their stats. I was comparing how they were responsible for putting the teams on their backs and getting wins every week.

My point is that Cam had more responsibility than Joe did. Auburn 2010 was Cam running and passing, primarily. 2019 LSU was Joe carving up defenses through the air with Clyde and co. on the ground.

Both Joe and Cam obviously can be credited with puling off wins for their team.

2019 LSU would murder 2010 Auburn. 2020 LSU will still win 11 games. So no, not even close. Yeah I know...1980.

a flash in the pan

I keep seeing this in reference to LSU's 2019 championship.

My question is:

How can a team win 3 national championships, 5 SEC championships, and have the highest win % in the league, all over the last 20 years, have one of their seasons considered a "flash in the pan"?

Auburn, OTOH, only has one NC since 2000. That is how you describe a flash in the pan.

Auburn has beat Alabama more times in the last decade than L8U has!

and what has that done for them. One year they beat #1 UGA and next game they beat #1 bama. Didn't win the SEC or make CFP.

I forgot college football revolves around the mighty crimson turds

One other variable: Eaux has lost a significant number of his coaching staff, including arguably his two most valuable assistants in Aranda and Brady.

If memory serves, AU had no staff turnover in 2011, and went from 14-0 to 8-5 (7-5 regular season).

So it was pretty clearly a talent dropoff on the field, whereas LSU’s is likely more on the sidelines (despite the loss of key players as well).

That said, LSU will go 9-3 regular season at worst.

Whats a significant number to you?

Most of the departures have been analysts getting better gigs.

Explain.

Outside of Cam, the 2010 Auburn team had average talent relative to their peers. Fairley was the only other impact player.

The 2019 LSU team is loaded with other NFL bound studs. It has 5 projected 1st rounders this year, and returns the best WR and DB in the country (Chase and Stingley) for 2020.

To put it simply, Auburn was an above average team with a great QB and LSU was a very good team with a great QB.

Both were elevated to championship caliber due by historically great QB play, but the rest of the rosters are not comparable.

30%, or 3 of 10 assistants:

Aranda
Brady
Johnson

The Johnson that LEFT was an analyst in '19. The Johnson that STAYED was the Dline coach in '19.

No drop-off with Pelini taking over for Aranda. Waiting on Brady's replacement to be named.

They are both CEO type head coaches right?

Chiz lost his team quickly. I can't see Coach O ever losing his team like Chiz did.

CEO also won't bring in the likes of "Lefty & 'Stache) like Chiz did either.

It's my understanding that the Johnson who left (Dennis) would have resumed his duties as DL coach this year, since the Johnson who stayed (Bill) was signed to a one-year deal and would likely have retired (he's 65).

Pellini hasn't been a DC in over a decade. Aranda has proven to be one of the best over the past 5 years.

Same deal with us and Chadwick. He hasn't been an OC since 2013, there's no way of knowing if he is capable of fielding a competitive offense (and right now there's no way of knowing if Gustav will even let him try). That is why we approach the prospect of offensive improvement with a great deal of skepticism.

You appear convinced that there will be 'no drop-off' in defensive performance. Good luck with that.

If O and Bo start grooming themselves in the same manner then LSU is fricked.

LSU will go 11 & 1 or 12 & 0 in 2020. Does that answer your question?
