yep the internet and tv connects people like never before.
Id also believe mass killings to be slightly up because of how the cultural has changed in the last few years not morally but how we gather. larger population and more densely packed will lead to mass killings every now and then.

I didn't really follow the story. I know a bunch of kids got shot and murdered... but was there two shooters or just one? and the mother got killed to or no?

Not only that, but the country (and world) is far more densely populated as well. The number of incidents will rise with the increase in population.
But as far as people saying that the violence is increasing, look at someone like HH Holmes or Jack the Ripper. Crazy gonna crazy.
Something else as well, I keep seeing the suggestion of increased security in schools. That's such a false security blanket. You see people get around metal detectors in courthouses and at airports all the time. This kid was the son of a parent teaching there and likely would've been allowed in the building without issue.
Sometimes unspeakable things happen. And without rhyme or reason.

yep sometimes humans just do fricked up shite. we just find out about it alot faster and in more detail now than we did in the day.
