My cousin has a chocolate and a black lab that we use to retrieve. Love those damn dogs.

My lab is an awesome retriever and the brittany took to it immediately. You can watch her work and see how innate it is in her. I really want to have her trained, but don't have the money right now. Hell, I'd take her out without a gun just to watch her work and point. There's not much better than seeing a good bird dog work. Only thing I can think of is a gobbler in full strut in sunlight or a fish hitting topwater. Tailing redfish are a sight to see as well.

No doubt. I fish topwater every single chance I get. As Havolah Babcock said (paraphrasing here) I'll take one on top to two underneath any day of the week.

I've always been told by dog people that a .22 is the way to get them accustomed to the sound when they are young.
