Florida and Tennessee not being in a pod together seems odd to me. I know they aren’t rivals like UGA/UF, and Bama/Tennessee, but I remember it being a pretty heated rivalry growing up.

UT wasn't even close to being in the top half--I believe that Missouri and both the Mississippi schools had higher win percentages
What time horizon was used?

That's never been a rivalry in SEC history. It just had a really intense 90s thing going because of the forced divisions and Spurrier/Fulmer having 2 of the top teams in the conference.

I think a lot of their fans would disagree with you on that.

quote:The issue is, you're not going to see A&M, Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri dumped into a pod by themselves. That's Big 12 Lite, and those schools spent a lot of money to come to the SEC. So in addition to the rotating games, everyone is given someone permanent that isn't Big 12.
Or four location based matchups/pods to occur ever year:
TAM, Mizzou, OU, UT
LSU, Ark, OM, MsSt
AL, Aub, Tenn, Vandy
Fla, UGA, SoCar, UK
If you don't go purely geographically someone is going to get fricked, it is as simple as that.
Texas gets Arkansas, which isn't a big SEC deal, but revives a huge SWC game. Oklahoma gets Fla, which IS a big SEC draw. A&M gets LSU, another big SEC prize.
Mizzou gets Vanderbilt
