If you’re a TCU fan, would you rather:

1) Lose the Natty 65-7
-Or-
2) Lose by 1 point on a missed FG like Ohio State
IMO:
Option 1: Today you probably feel like you didn’t belong in the Natty, but you’re happy you had the best season your program will probably ever have. However, it is a completely humiliating loss and will probably be what this team is most remembered for by non-TCU fans.
Option 2: Completely gut wrenching knowing you could have won it all and will likely never have that opportunity again, but you have some sense of pride knowing your team put up a damn good fight vs. a better team.

Having seen UGA get both blown out and lose close games, I'd say I'd rather be blown out. I hardly remember the bad losses, but the 2012 SECCG and the 2018 Natty are still with me (though only faint memories now with our more recent successes).

In the moment, definitely NOT the last second field goal.
but man, getting pummeled by 50+ in front of the entire sports world is a level of embarrassment not many programs get to experience.

Followup Question if you don't mind-
Would you rather lose 65-7 with some garbage time scores by the backups
-Or-
Lose 48-7 with the other team taking a knee in the 3rd quarter.

My favorite is getting screwed out of a win by the refs…….

That’s a hard one. It’s an arse whipping either way. I guess 48-7 does look as bad in the history books

Losses like that sting more for the team it happens to. Not many people will remember LSU losing 50-30 in the SECCG this year or 21-0 in the 2011 BCSCG as much as LSU fans. Other fans remember UGA and Bama winning, unless they need it for ammo against an LSU fan.

In this situation I think they just hoped they wouldn't get embarrassed. No way they thought deep in their hearts they'd win this game.

I would almost never take option 2, but in this case I take option 2.
