Bring it back to ten teams - never more than twelve.
SEC formed in 32' with 13 teams
SEC had 12 teams for the majority of the history timeline.

Can we include teams who think they're SEC?

I just don't think Missouri fits or ever will fit. I feel like the only people who showed up the day we voted on Missouri were people from Arkansas.
I'm not even really insulting them, it's just that the huge swath of the conference has no ties/interests whatsoever to the state, and that doesn't apply in the same way to other considered states (Texas, NC, etc.).
To be honest, NW Arkansas is basically a Midwest outpost in a Southern state so there is something to be said for that.

Out with Tennessee in with Florida State. Past that, Out with Mizzou in with Clemson, sheerly because leaving Clemson in the ACC with no FLorida State guarantees a cakewalk to the end every year.

A&M. If the SEC was going to bring in one of the Texas schools in it should have at least been one of the better ones.

Replace the lame arse embarrassing Texas school, with a better Texas school.

A whole lot of stupid in this post. Which graduates of Texas universities get paid the most? It would be Texas A&M graduates grasshopper!
Texas A&M graduates rank first in salaries again in Texas

Clemson in...usce or vandy out in the east and Texas in...arky or miss. st out in the west, cause they're not quality sec football programs most years.

Cockblock in full effect.
Although if we somehow both were in it wouldn't change a thing for us since we play them every year anyway.

I hope all of you who want Vanderbilt out like having every bit of correspondence between SEC schools subject to FOIA.

#1 You do not kick out charter schools, it is so white trash new money to even suggest it.
#2 Texas is a cancer, to even suggest it shows lack of foresight (If you want Texas then you equally want Ohio State as they are the same a-hole level and I do not see anybody suggesting adding Ohio State.
#3 TAMU and SC were SIAA so they have an early adopter card at the door
#4 Hogs and Tigers got fair invites so unless they decide they want to leave they are in
When the Sooners had their chance but wanted to bring the Pokes they lost their place in line. Same for Taters and Free Shoes. Neither wanted the SEC back in the 90's so they go to the back of the line. I would take the Bumbles and Tulane back before these two. SEC made their bones on the common good of the group and when they lose that strength they will just be another P5. The attitude of "me first" exhibited by UNC, UTx, OSU, and USC means they would be no good in the SEC.
On a side note, while not in the SEC footprint, Iowa State probably fits the profile better than the teams already mentioned by other posters so far. They are polite fans like Utah and Nebraska but like to drink and party. Too bad they were not located in AR or MO.
