To think smart will fail any time soon is wishful thinking because it's not likely based on all the available information. Only a biased hater such as yourself would think such a thing.

I think it could easily look like CMR at UGA. They are off to similar starts.

The difference is smart has already had a better season than richt ever had and has signed 2 better classes than richt ever did.

You get less and less coherent every time we have a little chat. We have an OP talking about who Kirby will emulate and all we see are guys who have won championships -- something that Kirby has not done.

He could be anything at this point -- Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Richt, even Muschamp. It's his second year and he walked into a very favorable program, so let's wait until he wins an actual championship before comparing him to those who have.

Georgia reached their full potential under Richt which was being able to win the SEC a few times and finish #2 in the nation. Lets not act like Georgia is a Blueblood program or used to winning National Championships. That isn't who Georgia is or has ever been. Richt took them to what is essentially their ceiling. Georgia won't be playing for a NC anytime soon. It will be Decades again. 2017 was a once in a generation/lifetime event.

This is simply not True. Richt won the SEC. Richt also finished #2 in the nation. Sure Richt didn't win the "Rose Bowl" but he won the Sugar Bowl which is the Southern equivalent. Richt wasn't eligible to go to the Rose Bowl. In before we start getting statistics like "But Kirby can eat more BBQ sandwiches than Richt!!!!"

By firing a coach who was winning 10 games a season it leaves the guy coming in behind him little room for error. I think most folks want to see what Kirby does this year without a Senior laden team in an SEC East that while still putrid should be a little bit stronger this year depending on what Florida and South Carolina can muster.

Full disclosure I expect Georgia to finish no worse than 10-2 and be in Atlanta. My post isn't me predicting Georgia or Kirby to have a huge drop off this year.

Well, considering UGA hasn't DONE anything yet, besides winning 1 SEC title, the jury is still out. It takes more than talent to win titles man. Everyone in the sec has talent and is capable of winning a sec title. LSU, auburn, bama, florida, georgia, sometimes Tennessee and tejas am, usually are very close in talent. Just because uga signed a great class doesn't mean they're guaranteed to win shite. I personally believe kids in Georgia are a bit overrated coming out of hs. Let's see what happens and wait until uga maybe WINS a national title before you start comparing them under smart to other programs that HAVE WON nattys, and multiple titles. Pump the brakes.

Are you serious? The SEC has been pretty average the last three years and the East has been terrible for a decade now.

Every discussion we have involves your wishful thinking that uga 2017 was a fluke. After I point out the numerous flaws of your argument, you run away from them, only to come back days or weeks later in another thread repeating the same flawed arguments.

Since you clearly missed it, The comment I responded to dealt with a poster that claims the smart era will just be uga over the past 30 years. Pretty much the same idea you believe in and wish for.

You are wrong. 2017 was a better team and season than the two you reference, 2002 and 2007.

The accomplishments are the same. Lets not trend into the "Kirby can eat more hotdogs than Richt could" territory.

I expect Georgia to have the opportunity to play for an SEC Championship and possibly a playoff spot this year. People just want to wait and see if he is more like Meyer/Dabo or if he is like Larry Coker/Gene Chizik. I don't think that is being too harsh or unrealistic. We need a bigger sample size on Kirby. Kirby did a great job in 2017.

Mark Richt never got us to a title game. Kirby has. Mark Richt never pulled in a consensus top 3 class. Kirby has twice.

You got to Dig a little deeper than that to prove you are more than a simple mind. Your choice to maintain whatever level of ignorance you want to display.

Kirby has had the benefit of a 4 team playoff. Richt only had that for 2 of his 15 seasons. Had there been a playoff for Richt's whole tenure you would have been in it a few times.

This has nothing to do with anything. Lets see if Kirby can sustain the success from 2017 where he had a Senior laden team of Mark Richt players that contributed. Nobody is saying Kirby hasn't recruited very well. But, there is more to it than that. Ask Larry Coker or Gene Chizik. Sometimes the next big thing becomes the next big bust.

Richt absolutely took you to your ceiling. It took Vince Dooley more than 15 years to win a Championship. If you compare Dooley's first 15 years and Richt's 15 years the only difference is 1 SEC Championship. Richt did as well as a Coach can at Georgia besides 1980.

You're really embarrassed about what some guy you don't even know posts on a message board that other people you don't even know read? Like you really sit down at your computer and feel embarrassment about it? That's pathetic. Dude, this is SEC rant. You really need to get a life.
