You're still ignoring the actual point of the thread. I promise you if something like this happens in the title game, someone is getting ejected.

They didn't need to confirm it.

(This is where that Vol hit learning session becomes inconvenient for you.)

By rule, they needed to confirm it:

"If any element of Targeting cannot be confirmed, then the Replay Official shall overturn the targeting foul."

By the way, there's no "call stands" on targeting. It's either confirmed or reversed.

The rules are the rules, and they arent changing this week, or next week. They arent going to change what targeting is or isnt.

Wrong.

Helmet contact is only one indicator.

Targeting -> When it happens to my team

Not Targeting -> When it happens to other team

BTW didnt georgia also get a reversed targeting call at the end of the LSU game?

Not at all.

Guess you better go back to targeting school.

So you’re suggesting that rules aren’t rules, but simply measuring sticks that can be moved according to pop couture opinion. Sounds like what’s been going on with our idiotic pop culture for the past few years, and will cause the end of what’s been the greatest country since the creation of civilization.

There's another one who only thinks it's targeting when it's his team.

Are you saying this isn't how it works, especially in a business predicated on television ratings?

The rule book is NOT wrong:

"ALL elements of a Targeting foul must be confirmed by the Instant Replay Official"

"If any element of Targeting cannot be confirmed, then the Replay Official shall overturn the targeting foul."

A call standing is a call confirmed, just like a potayto is a potahto.

To be honest, if someone had a mirror image play from another game that resulted in targeting, I’d amuse this discussion as we have something to compare to. Or else this is all a wash.

It was also not targeting.

No, it isn't.

You can simply say that you weren't aware of that aspect of the rule. No shame in it.
