I hear ya, direct distance is one thing.
But when you're in the same conference as another in state team and they're not as closely associated with you as possible (division/pod) it looks ridiculous, like someone is hiding from someone.
Not sure if it would be Texas or AM hiding at this point. Probably Texas I guess.

Play your 7 division teams each year, rotate 2 from other division. Then have 3 other games to schedule as you'd like: cupcake, instate, traditional non conference rival, opening week neutral site game, etc.
This is the best system if and when tu and Chokelahoma join the conference. They can't seem to figure out when that is going to occur.
Trying to compare the team they have now to the team that will be in place once they join the SEC is comparing apples to oranges most likely. Teams can change quickly. Look at LOLSU, wins a natty then can't even have a winning season the following two years.
All of you posters that like to compare overall records for the past fifty years and try to convince the intelligent posters that it has something to do with the here and now are just demonstrating your lack of understanding of football. Going back 2, 3, or 4 years may be comparable but 10, 20 or 50 years is just stupid

They won’t. They need to focus on overcoming the world beaters known as Kansas University first. The amount of money they are allegedly throwing around means they know Sark won’t have them SEC ready and their whole program is set to be a door mat for years once they enter the league.

The best system is 3 permanent rivals and rotate the others every 2 years home and home. Only way to preserve the rivalries and allow the conference to actually play each other. The Conference Championship games are going to go away with the Playoff expansion most likely as well.

So true. I mean if you go to Texags it is just post after post pining for our old days in the Big 12. Those glorious road trips to Manhattan, KS or Ames, Iowa. Not to mention the trip to Lubbock or Stillwater. So much better than playing in the SEC.
