Memphis isn't a bad team.
sure. They're a decent team. But don't kid yourself. It's still Memphis. You have no excuse for losing to them.

Shouldnt we hope LSU beats Ole Miss and squeaks in at number 4 ?

That would be another easy win.......

Why does know one understand that the rankings do not not work like the polls.

Just because your in the top 4 , and continue to win doesn't mean you stay in the top 4.
They throw the whole thing out each week and the-assess. Go back at look at how the rankings changed each week. The B12 top 4 hasn't played. Each other yet. So their SOS is down, for the moment. Last year TCU was ranked 3rd and win 55-3 and dropped 3 spots. Because they weren't out right champion. The final conference championships are not factored till the end. Alabma will absolutely need to win the league if the other conferences have 0/1 loss champions. One team last year made it into the final 4 last year , who was in when the rankings were first released.

I think Ole Miss would be in. FL wins the East but if we beat them in the big game then we would have cancelled out one of our losses. Only other loss was to a potentially top 10 team on the road. We need Memphis to lose one game though. I agree that the committee might have a hard time putting us in over an undefeated Memphis team even if we win the SEC just because of the head to head loss.

Anyone who thinks OM is running the table is nuts. Hugh Freeze is their coach.

And LSU will jump to number 1 WHEN they beat Bama Saturday.

OM is done. End of story. There is no way the committee will vote OM into the CFP. None!

Conference title is the number one criteria supposedly. These early rankings are just for excitement. If Ole miss and Bama were to win out and there were a spot available for an sec team it's all Hotty Toddy. You still need to hope for an ole miss loss

Agreed but for the OM getting in part.

Barring at least one P5 conference producing a 2 loss champ, if both Bama and OM win out the SEC will be left out of the playoffs.

They could win out, and beat all remaining opponents by 50 plus points*. That might do it.

*That will NOT happen, by the way.
