We probably should be

But as an Auburn fan I'd be pretty stupid to expect consistency from Auburn

If Auburn is 8-1 heading to Athens I think you have to feel pretty good about the season heading into the killer stretch.

Of course, knowing Auburn, the 1 loss will be at home to Arkansas 34-13 or something, and everyone will rightfully want to murder Gus.

Only because of the Mercedes Benz Arena jinx.

We can't win there.

I think Auburn is going to smother Washington's offense. Browning is not scary at all and they haven't been a power run team Pete's entire tenure there.

Whether Auburn can block up front will tell whether they boat race them or get in a slugfest IMHO.

There have certainly been some times recently where we were ranked well or had a decent record but I thought it was a pretty thin veneer. But yeah, at 8-1 I think it's pretty unlikely you're an ugly team who has just gotten the bounces or won scrappy games. This conference will expose you before that, usually.

But I definitely don't put it past us to drop a should-win game en route to that stretch of the season regardless of how we're playing. Alabama is the only team in the conference that has developed a culture of pretty consistently avoiding those losses.

Quite frankly, Alabama is the only program in America that has done that. Just last season - Ohio State got blown out by Iowa, Oklahoma lost at home to Iowa State and Clemson lost to Syracuse.

We like to poke fun at Malzahn for it but Auburn is the rule, not the exception. It's how college football works.

My thoughts as well. He's a great football mind for sure who always gets the most out of his players.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

LSU, MSU, and AtM are all good enough to beat us. Fortunately for us, only MSU is on the road but upsets happen too. We will see.

What does UW have coming back? I never count out a Petersen team.

Have you checked out their offensive line? Those dudes are massive. Two of them are 6'8 350.

AU's D line will have their hands full. Yes, I know AU are returning 3 starters and DL should be a strength.

Auburn typically struggles to find an offensive identity early on in the season. Couple that with a questionable running game. Martin ain't no 30+ carry back. Stidham sucks without a running game. Buzz saw.

Fat & slow. When have they faced SEC defensive speed?

Not with a returning All-SEC type QB.

What season has Gus produced a questionable running game?

Martin

Which Martin? I think they can handle 30 carries between the 2.

Buzz saw.

Doubful. Gus can always frick up a game, but it would be a stretch to say Auburn is headed into a buzz saw.

Auburn will skull frick Washington. Their defense is too good. Only LSU Georgia MSU and Alabama have the front seven to beat Auburn.

It's definitely been a bad place to play for you guys recently. I think it will only serve to get your team ready for some revenge and make a statement for the year.

We are only 0-2. One loss to the NC and one loss to the runner-up.

Agreed. With some regularity we can point out "trap" games and if the dogs don't win, it's nonetheless often a battle and exposes some weaknesses.

I obviously hate to praise Alabama, but I gave up looking for Alabama to come out flat against _____ years ago. At least until Saban's gone, the idea of Alabama playing with fire against Missouri or equivalent just seems like wasted hope.

Ours would be considered questionable at this point. our front 4 should be excellent, but until we get on the field the LB's are a "?". I think the LB's will be very good, but we won't know for sure until the season gets here.
