JStan, what do you think about AJ in the NFL?
Posted on 9/18/13 at 7:55 pm to JStanDawgFan
In Murray's first year, he actually scrambled alot, Richt and Bobo had to break him of the habit.
I'm not saying he's JFF or Cam or Wilson, but he can and has ran very well.
Imagine Drew Brees, but eager to and fully capable of running.

Yea but looking better his year. Seems to have calmed quite a bit in the pocket. Feel like he stands taller. Sounds silly. I don't know. Cam has certainly helped.

Understandable. That opinion is based off of a year and 2 games of NFL experience on Wilson's side. My point is there is a reason that Wilson slid in the draft. It is the same reasons that people are giving Murray no chance in the upcoming draft in April. That is all I am saying.

although I do think it'd be a big year for SEC QBs
Murray would go 1 right now fwiw(All about the right team)
then AJ(AJ could very well go 1 just because of his NCAA accomplishments)
then a toss up
JFF will be highly scrutinized come draft time bc of all the BS(Highly scrutinized for sure but the Combine could make or break him in the draft)
not trolling either
NFL looks into guys pretty hard
as far as Draft I somewhat agree with this. with notes added to the side.
Mett will go high just because he's built like a NFL Qb. just leave the facial hair in LSU.

I remember his running a little more his first year or so as the starter. But for some reason it seemed out of necessity. Every time I watched him, he had a hand in his face and a collapsed pocket. Did y'all have o-line problems for a while there or am I totally off my rocker?
Playing against that constant pressure off the edge could benefit him going forward in the NFL. Most young QB's lack that clock in their head telling them to get rid of the ball.

It's all good. Fwiw Mett did look real choppy and robotic last year
Last year I thought Mett looked like Murray in his first year... staring down receivers, confused by zones, not comfortable in the pocket.
Mett should be much better this year. Experts who follow such things say a qb's biggest year-to-year jump in improvement is year 1 starting to year 2 starting, backup or redshirt years not included. This is Mett's year.
I only saw him play in person at the UGA spring game, and I thought he had the best arm of all the qb's.
Had that Valdosta incident not happened, and he stayed at UGA to be developed, uninterupted, transfers etc, who knows how good he could be right now. Hell, he'd probably already be starting in the NFL because he would have left last year.

Unfortunately, I never got to scout for the NFL, I scouted for Arena. Having said that, I would never have gotten to scout AJ.

But AJ, is more than what people are saying about him. "Game Manager" is not an appropriate title. He is much more than that. Great arm, great instincts, amazing intangibles. Pocket presence is great as well. I think he has what it takes to win at any level. He will need to work on getting his eyes disciplined to hold safeties in the middle of the field more often however. Good prospect.

Correct, and Murray was successfully and instinctively scrambling out of it, but taking big hits too, because he didn't know how to slide very well. Yes, they taught him to throw it away which he started doing in year two, they didn't want him getting killed, as he isn't built like Cam. But his ability to scramble is beside the fact he was scrambling out of necessity.

Glad to know I had similar things to say about a player as a former scout does
messin with ya.
Georgia fans, gettin off topic real quick....
How do y'all feel about Mett next weekend? Y'all obviously wanna win but do you wish him well? Any ill will? Bittersweet if he plays well?

First 5 selected in order:
Johnny
AJ
Murray
Bo
Mett
I was told by Missouri fans that their QB is just as good as JFF
However, his name seems to escape me at the moment, despite his massive stardom

I hope he throws 4 int's before Miles puts in the backup.

The Big 4 in the SEC their games/skill sets most remind me of
Manziel - Russel Wilson
McCarron - Matt Ryan
Mettenberger - Ben Roethlisberger
Murray - Drew Brees

You post no reasoning, why should anyone else? As far as draft order, no clue and don't care. This is about CFB production and I'll take our guy. In another scheme, their guy.

I actually do hope he performs well. He is a good kid that got a feeling of entitlement and it got him into trouble in South Georgia. Obviously he has learned his lesson and moved on to, what we all know will be a bright future. I hope he plays well enough, just not well enough to win.

I love how people throw game manager out like its an insult. The guy does everything you want him to do, has enough arm to make all the throws (after a certain point great is no better than enough when accuracy is equal), and he is a winner.
Throw any SEC QB on Bama the past two years and they still win the titles.

Wait. You think a 6'0 qb with delivery issues is the first SEC qb taken?
